Article Synopsis
  • Lupus erythematosus (LE) is an autoimmune disease that can lead to scarring alopecia, particularly in its discoid and panniculitis forms, complicating diagnosis for clinicians due to diverse symptoms.
  • This study aimed to assess line-field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC-OCT) as a diagnostic tool for identifying features of cicatricial alopecia associated with LE.
  • Results showed that LC-OCT successfully identified specific morphologic characteristics of cicatricial alopecia, including lymphocytic interface dermatitis and hyperreflective collagen fibers, which could aid in differentiating LE-related alopecia from other scarring types.
