Intestinal stem cells replenish the epithelium throughout life by continuously generating intestinal epithelial cell types, including absorptive enterocytes, and secretory goblet, endocrine, and Paneth cells. This process is orchestrated by a symphony of niche factors required to maintain intestinal stem cells and to direct their proliferation and differentiation. Among the various mature intestinal epithelial cell types, Paneth cells are unique in their location in the stem cell zone, directly adjacent to intestinal stem cells.

Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) offer promising methods for disinfection by generating radical species like hydroxyl radicals, superoxide anion radicals, and hydroxy peroxyl, which can induce oxidative stress and deactivate bacterial cells. Photocatalysis, a subset of AOPs, activates a semiconductor using specific electromagnetic wavelengths. Intolerance of Uncertainty (IU) is thought to lead to maladaptive behaviours and dysfunctional decision making, both in the clinical and healthy population. The seminal study reported by Luhmann and collaborators in 2011 showed that IU was negatively associated with choosing a delayed, but more certain and valuable, reward over choosing an immediate, but less certain and valuable, reward. These findings have been widely disseminated across the field of personality and individual differences because of their relevance to understand the role of IU in maladaptive behaviours in anxiety-related disorders.

In the coffee industry, the use of natural coffee extracts with differentiated attributes is desirable to drive new product development. This study evaluates the impact of ultrafiltration membrane processing on the sensory, metabolic, and physicochemical attributes of four commercially available coffee extracts: cold brew, lightly roasted, freeze concentrated and evaporated standard. The sensory analysis revealed an increase in acidity in the permeate across all extracts, with the most significant profile changes observed in the lightly roasted evaporated and evaporated extracts, accompanied by an enhancement of fruity and floral attributes.

Neural circuits support behavioral adaptations by integrating sensory and motor information with reward and error-driven learning signals, but it remains poorly understood how these signals are distributed across different levels of the corticohippocampal hierarchy. We trained rats on a multisensory object-recognition task and compared visual and tactile responses of simultaneously recorded neuronal ensembles in somatosensory cortex, secondary visual cortex, perirhinal cortex, and hippocampus. The sensory regions primarily represented unisensory information, whereas hippocampus was modulated by both vision and touch.
