Background: Parafalcine subdural hematomas (pSDHs) are a subtype of subdural hematoma (SDH) that occur most frequently in older patients after blunt trauma. The literature primarily describes two clinical courses for patients with pSDH: those who are neurologically intact with stable examinations and imaging and those with focal deficits, with or without hematoma progression. Surgical management is undoubtedly required for the latter group; however, there are no evidence-based guidelines specifically for pSDH.

Biologics are recommended to treat paediatric ulcerative colitis (UC) that is chronically active or steroid-dependent despite aminosalicylic acids (5-ASA) and thiopurine treatments. Anti-tumour necrosis factor inhibitors (Anti-TNF inhibitors) are the agents of choice and vedolizumab could be considered as second-line biologic therapy.In the current case, we aim to describe a successful long-term treatment with vedolizumab in a 9-year-old boy with severe UC and primary non-response to infliximab.

A 10 year (2011-2021) systematic review of teen dating violence prevention programs.

Background: Teen dating violence (TDV) refers to the physical, sexual and/or psychological violence that takes place within a romantic relationship amongst teenagers. TDV has devastating consequences for the victims, particularly for young women, who also experience increased risk of relationship violence in their adulthood. In view of this, the implementation of effective TDV prevention programs has the potential to tackle both TDV and contribute to eradicate gender-based violence.

Safety of Short-Term Treatments with Oral Chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine in Patients with and without COVID-19: A Systematic Review.

Chloroquine (CQ) and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) have recently become the focus of global attention as possible treatments for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The current systematic review aims to assess their safety in short treatments (≤14 days), whether used alone or in combination with other drugs. Following the PRISMA and SWiM recommendations, a search was conducted using four health databases for all relevant English-, Chinese-, and Spanish-language studies from inception through 30 July 2021.

From tilapia () farming, the by-products have been identified as a source of collagen that could be used for the development of dermocosmetics or pharmaceutical products. However, the characteristics of collagen related to a specific strain or culture must be well defined prior to its application. Collagen was extracted from the skin of three strains of tilapia: red YY males (YY: two Y-type sex chromosomes), XX gray females, and the F1: offspring of crossing red YY males with XX gray females; at different ages in the adult phase, using acetic acid and pepsin enzyme.

Background: Nosocomial bloodstream infection (nBSI) is an important clinical concern among COVID-19 hospitalised patients. It can cause sepsis and septic shock leading to high morbidity, mortality, and the emergence of antibiotic resistance. The aim of this case-control study is to identify the risk factors associated with the nBSI development in COVID-19 hospitalised patients and its incidence.

Evidence suggests patient preferences, including values and perspectives, have affected clinical outcomes, such as compliance, patient well-being, and satisfaction with care. A literature review was conducted with the purpose of exploring the tools used to elicit patients' treatment preferences and their roles in clinical outcomes. This review revealed racial differences in treatment preferences among patients with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.

High night temperatures (HNT) are shown to significantly reduce rice (Oryza sativa L.) yield and quality. A better understanding of the genetic architecture of HNT tolerance will help rice breeders to develop varieties adapted to future warmer climates.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate how patient knowledge and beliefs regarding nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may influence the use of NSAIDs for osteoarthritis (OA).

Methods: Surveys of 334 adults with knee and/or hip OA were analyzed in this cross-sectional study. Familiarity with and perceptions of benefits/risks of NSAID use were measured to assess associations with the use of prescription and nonprescription oral NSAIDs.
