Leveraging data to support health equity in an integrated delivery and finance system.

Introduction: To accelerate healthcare transformation and advance health equity, scientists in learning health systems (LHSs) require ready access to integrated, comprehensive data that includes information on social determinants of health (SDOH).

Methods: We describe how an integrated delivery and finance system leveraged its learning ecosystem to advance health equity through (a) a cross-sector initiative to integrate healthcare and human services data for better meeting clients' holistic needs and (b) a system-level initiative to collect and use patient-reported SDOH data for connecting patients to needed resources.

Results: Through these initiatives, we strengthened our health system's capacity to meet diverse patient needs, address health disparities, and improve health outcomes.

Here, we explore the extent to which trait judgements of faces are influenced by race. Basic foot care is a real need of people experiencing homelessness. To improve access to foot health for this group, three services structured to provide healthcare support for people experiencing homelessness collaborated in metropolitan Melbourne, Australia: an established nurse-led Homeless Persons Program (HPP), a specialty community health podiatry clinic servicing people experiencing homelessness, and a charity supporting disadvantaged communities providing free socks, foot first aid kits and second-hand footwear for distribution by nurses and podiatrists of participating services. This paper outlines the implementation and evaluation of this collaboration.

Application of a novel deep learning-based 3D videography workflow to bat flight.

Studying the detailed biomechanics of flying animals requires accurate three-dimensional coordinates for key anatomical landmarks. Traditionally, this relies on manually digitizing animal videos, a labor-intensive task that scales poorly with increasing framerates and numbers of cameras. Here, we present a workflow that combines deep learning-powered automatic digitization with filtering and correction of mislabeled points using quality metrics from deep learning and 3D reconstruction.

Repeat Repair After Translocation of an Anomalous Left Coronary Artery.

We repaired a left anomalous aortic origin of coronary artery using coronary ostium translocation/reimplantation. Repeat repair was required due to suboptimal flow pattern in postoperative transesophageal echocardiography, which was confirmed with coronary angiography. We emphasize the importance of early recognition, diagnosis, and intervention to deal with a problem with the coronary repair.
