Purpose: In March 2020, a 1-week ultrahypofractionated adjuvant breast radiation therapy schedule, 26 Gy in 5 fractions, and telehealth were adopted to reduce the risk of COVID-19 for staff and patients. This study describes real-world 1-year late toxicity for ultrahypofractionation (including a sequential boost) and patient perspectives on this new schedule and telehealth workflows.

However, here we show for the first time that prolonged visual deprivation induces robust and reversible plasticity at synapses between first order visual thalamus and cortical layer 4 pyramidal neurons. The plasticity is associative and expressed by changes in presynaptic function, thereby amplifying and relaying the change in efferent drive to the visual cortex.

This provides a conceptual overview of the key concepts of salutogenesis (health restoration), chronic stress, resilience, and emotional well-being, and describes how they are distinct and interrelated. We posit, and demonstrate through scientific evidence, that complementary and integrative health approaches, including mind and body interventions, can be used to mitigate the effects of chronic stress and promote salutogenic pathways.

Methods: We examined whether the relationship between polygenic risk score for schizophrenia (PRS-Sz) and psychotic-like experiences (PLEs), as measured by the Community Assessment of Psychic Experiences-42 (CAPE-42) questionnaire, is mediated or moderated by lifetime cannabis use at 16 years of age in 1740 of the individuals of the European IMAGEN cohort. A novel SARS-CoV-2 subunit vaccine engineered on an immune-activating platform technology.

While there are several SARS-CoV-2 vaccines currently available, additional options must be provided that are safe, effective, and affordable for the entire global population. We have developed a novel immune activating platform technology that will fill this need. This recombinant platform protein is produced in insect cells using baculoviral expression technology similar to what is currently used for several other approved vaccines as well as employed by myriad GMP facilities globally.

T cell quiescence is essential for maintaining a broad repertoire against a large pool of diverse antigens from microbes and tumors, but the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown. We show here that CD8α is critical for the maintenance of CD8 T cells in a physiologically quiescent state in peripheral lymphoid organs. Upon inducible deletion of CD8α, both naïve and memory CD8 T cells spontaneously acquired activation phenotypes and subsequently died without exposure to specific antigens.

Chronic Monocular Deprivation Reveals MMP9-Dependent and -Independent Aspects of Murine Visual System Plasticity.

The immune system is unique among all biological sub-systems in its usage of DNA-editing enzymes to introduce targeted gene mutations and double-strand DNA breaks to diversify antigen receptor genes and combat viral infections.
