Some of the approaches that we review do not maintain proximity between code and documentation. Others do not update the documentation after the code is changed.

In this context, our study aimed to assess the frequency of oral lesions, olfactory and gustatory disorders, and xerostomia resulting from COVID-19.

Therapeutic itineraries of quilombola women in northern Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Quilombolas are ethnic-racial groups, of black ancestry, and had their territories consolidated in Brazil in regions with difficult access and far from large centers. The objective of this study is to know the therapeutic itinerary (IT) adopted by quilombola women in traditional communities located in the North of the state of Minas Gerais. This is a qualitative study with the theoretical model using the Arthur Kleinman health care system.

Watermelon crinkle leaf-associated virus 1 (WCLaV-1) and WCLaV-2, both belonging to the genus Coguvirus (family Phenuiviridae), have been identified in watermelon plants in Brazil. To study tissue tropism and the potential for seed transmission of these viruses, we initially planned to produce specific antibodies. However, difficulties in isolating and propagating the virus in host plants hindered the purified virus preparations.

Diagnosis of Epidermoid Carcinoma of the Tongue after Treatment of Epidermoid Carcinoma of the Esophagus.

In the present case report, a patient with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) developed a second primary tumor in the tongue at the same time. Stage III middle esophageal SCC was discovered in a 60-year-old Caucasian male patient who was institutionalized, a smoker, and had previously struggled with alcoholism. Following treatment, the patient was admitted to the hospital for 15 days due to dysphagia and malnutrition.

First report of Moroccan watermelon mosaic virus in pumpkin plants in Brazil.

Cucurbita moschata is widely cultivated in Brazil, and zucchini lethal chlorosis virus, squash mosaic virus, papaya ringspot virus, watermelon mosaic virus have been reported as viral pathogens in this crop in Brazil. The leaf samples of C. moschata showing mosaic, blistering, and yellowing symptoms were collected from a commercial field in Petrolina, Pernambuco state and a commercial field in Juazeiro, Bahia state, in February 2023.

HPOSS: A hierarchical portfolio optimization stacking strategy to reduce the generalization error of ensembles of models.

Texture analysis in cone-beam computed tomographic images of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate changes in the trabecular bone through texture analysis and compare the texture analysis characteristics of different areas in patients with medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ).

Materials And Methods: Cone-beam computed tomographic images of 16 patients diagnosed with MRONJ were used. In sagittal images, 3 regions were chosen: active osteonecrosis (AO); intermediate tissue (IT), which presented a zone of apparently healthy tissue adjacent to the AO area; and healthy bone tissue (HT) (control area).

Influence of CBCT parameters on image quality and the diagnosis of vertical root fractures in teeth with metallic posts: an study.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of peak kilovoltage (kVp) and a metal artifact reduction (MAR) tool on image quality and the diagnosis of vertical root fracture (VRF) in cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Materials And Methods: Twenty single-rooted human teeth filled with an intracanal metal post were divided into 2 groups: control ( = 10) and VRF ( = 10). Each tooth was placed into the socket of a dry mandible, and CBCT scans were acquired using a Picasso Trio varying the kVp (70, 80, 90, or 99), and the use of MAR (with or without).

The scope of this article is to assess the prevalence and factors associated with Common Mental Disorders (CMD) in "quilombolas" (Afro-Brazilian residents of quilombo settlements) in rural communities located in the North of Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is a cross-sectional study of 2019 based on structured interviews and application of a Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20). Binary logistic regression was conducted.

The usage of microorganisms as biocontrol agents and biofertilizers has been recommended and recognized as an ecologically correct alternative to maintaining the productivity and safety of crops. Thus, the objectives of this work were to characterize twelve strains belonging to Invertebrate Bacteria Collection of Embrapa Genetic Resources and Biotechnology by molecular, morphological, and biochemical methods and to evaluate the pathogenicity of these strains against pests and diseases of agricultural interest. The morphological characteristic of the strains was performed according to the principles of Bergy's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology.

Identification of cry genes in Bacillus thuringiensis by multiplex real-time PCR.

Bacillus thuringiensis is an important bacterium of the group Bacillus cereus sensu lato due to its insecticidal properties. This microorganism has high genetic variability and its strains produce different Cry toxins, known as δ-endotoxins, which are mainly responsible for its toxic effect on insects that are agricultural pests or vector human diseases. Each strain can express a variety of cry genes, out of a total of 789 cry genes described so far.

Polymyxin B Activity Rescue by (-)-Camphene-Based Thiosemicarbazide Against Carbapenem-Resistant .

Due to the significant shortage of therapeutic options for carbapenem-resistant (CRE) infections, new drugs or therapeutic combinations are urgently required. We show in this study that (-)-camphene-based thiosemicarbazide (TSC) may act synergistically with polymyxin B (PMB) against CRE, rescuing the activity of this antimicrobial. With the specific aim of a better molecular understanding of this effect caused by the presence of TSC, theoretical calculations were also performed in this study.

The prevalence of patients hospitalized in ICUs with COVID-19 and co-infected by pathogenic bacteria is relevant in this study, considering the integrality of treatment. This systematic review assesses the prevalence of co-infection in patients admitted to ICUs with SARS-CoV-2 infection, using the PRISMA guidelines. We examined the results of the PubMed, Embase, and SciELO databases, searching for published English literature from December 2019 to December 2021.

Microstructure of the hoof capsule of pigmented and partial albino buffaloes.

In this study, atomic force microscopy (AFM), microtomography (MCT-2D and MCT-3D) and energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (EDXRF) were used to generate parameters of the microstructure of the hoof capsule of pigmented and partial albino buffaloes. Seventy-two digits of adult pigmented buffaloes and 16 of partial albino buffaloes were used and equally divided into thoracic and pelvic limbs and medial and lateral claws. Fragments of 10 mm × 10 mm of the dorsal wall, abaxial wall and pre-bulbar sole were collected.
