Methods: The research was divided into two phases: developing the digital test and the experimental phase of comparison with a reference test.

Applying 3D Models of Giant Salamanders to Explore Form-Function Relationships in Early Digit-Bearing Tetrapods.

Extant salamanders are used as modern analogs of early digit-bearing tetrapods due to general similarities in morphology and ecology, but the study species have been primarily terrestrial and relatively smaller when the earliest digit-bearing tetrapods were aquatic and an order of magnitude larger. Thus, we created a 3D computational model of underwater walking in extant Japanese giant salamanders (Andrias japonicus) using 3D photogrammetry and open-access graphics software (Blender) to broaden the range of testable hypotheses about the incipient stages of terrestrial locomotion. Our 3D model and software protocol represent the initial stages of an open-access pipeline that could serve as a "one-stop-shop" for studying locomotor function, from creating 3D models to analyzing the mechanics of locomotor gaits.

The species Anolis incredulus was proposed based on a single, poorly preserved specimen from the Sierra Maestra (mountain range) of southeastern Cuba. As its name suggests, this species was considered likely to raise doubts when it was first proposed, and it has been explicitly treated by some recent authors as a species inquirenda (a species of doubtful identity). Here we report on a second specimen of Anolis incredulus discovered in the amphibian and reptile collection of the National Museum of Natural History (Smithsonian Institution) that was collected more than 100 years before the holotype.

Thus, this review aims to highlight the role of NLRP3 inflammasome and oxidative stress in the development of hIR and evidence related to phytochemical intervention in this context. In this review, we will address the hIR pathogenesis related to reactive oxygen species (ROS) production mechanisms, involving oxidized mitochondrial DNA (ox-mtDNA) and thioredoxin interacting protein (TXNIP) induction in the NLRP3 inflammasome activation.

Consequently, the investigation of processes underlying the interaction between the tumor stroma, particularly activated pancreatic stellate cells (PSCs), and immune cells may offer new therapeutic approaches for PDAC treatment. In this study, we established a 3D PDAC model cultured under flow, consisting of an endothelial tube, PSCs and PDAC organoids.

We investigate the effect of chronic HF diet (15 weeks) on mortality and immunometabolic responses in female mice after sepsis induced by cecum ligation and perforation (CLP). At week 14, animals were divided into four groups: sham C diet, sepsis C diet (C-Sp), sham HF diet (HF-Sh) and sepsis HF diet (HF-Sp).

Species whose ranges encompass substantial environmental variation should experience heterogeneous selection, potentially resulting in local adaptation. Repeated covariation between phenotype and environment across ecologically similar species inhabiting similar environments provides strong evidence for adaptation. Lesser Antillean anoles present an excellent system in which to study repeated local adaptation because most species are widespread generalists occurring throughout environmentally heterogenous island landscapes.

With recent progress in modeling liver organogenesis and regeneration, the lack of vasculature is becoming the bottleneck in progressing our ability to model human hepatic tissues in vitro. Here, we introduce a platform for routine grafting of liver and other tissues on an in vitro grown microvascular bed. The platform consists of 64 microfluidic chips patterned underneath a 384-well microtiter plate.
