We present ultrasound modulated optical tomography (UOT) results on mice, using the persistent spectral hole burning (PSHB) effect in a Tm:YAG crystal. Indocyanine green (ICG) solution was injected as an optical absorber and was clearly identified on the PSHB-UOT images, both in the muscle (following an intramuscular injection) and in the liver (following an intravenous injection). This demonstration also validates an experimental setup with an improved level of performance combined with an increased technological maturity compared to previous demonstrations.

The separate confinement heterostructure was designed targeting electron-beam pumped lasing at 10 kV. The highest net gain value was 131 cm, obtained at the maximum pumping power density of the experimental setup (743 kW/cm).

We discuss the effect of spontaneous and piezoelectric polarization on carrier diffusion, comparing the results of cathodoluminescence with electronic simulations of the band structure and Monte Carlo calculations of the electron trajectories. Carrier collection is significantly improved using an asymmetric graded-index separate confinement heterostructure (GRINSCH).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA new decenoic acid derivative, gelliodesinic acid, and a naturally new alkaloid, together with three known furanoterpenoids and two known indole alkaloids, were isolated from the MeOH extract of the marine sponge Gelliodes sp. collected in Vietnam. The chemical structures of the isolated compounds were determined by analyses of 1D- and 2D-NMR and MS data and by comparisons of the data with those reported in the literature.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA new tribromoiododiphenyl ether (1) and eight known brominated diphenyl ethers (2-9) were isolated from the MeOH extract of the sponge Arenosclera sp. collected in Vietnam, using repeated open column chromatography and preparative thin layer chromatography. The chemical structure of the new compound 1 was determined by analyses of spectroscopic (1D- and 2D-NMR, and MS) data and by comparison of our data with those reported in the literature.
