Finger-like protrusions (FPs) extending into the hypothalamus in adamantinomatous craniopharyngiomas (ACPs) pose surgical challenges and their link to tumor recurrence and patient prognosis following gross total resection (GTR) is unclear. This study aims to determine the association between FPs, tumor recurrence, and prognosis after GTR, while identifying predictors for the presence of FPs. A total of 149 ACP patients undergoing GTR at our institution between January 2015 and December 2023 were retrospectively analyzed and were categorized into FP and non-FP groups based on the histology of the interface between ACP and the hypothalamus.

To improve the performance of spintronic devices, such as vdW magnetic tunnel junctions, a large effective spin polarization of valence electrons is highly desired. Despite its considerable significance, direct probe of spin polarization in these 2D magnets has not been extensively explored.

Among them, 50 patients received lymphocyte maintenance therapy, 21 received alternative maintenance therapy, and 35 received no maintenance therapy. Patients receiving lymphocyte maintenance therapy demonstrated significantly higher overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) compared to those without maintenance therapy, with 4-year OS and DFS rates notably elevated.

Iron antimonide (FeSb) has been investigated for decades due to its puzzling electronic properties. It undergoes the temperature-controlled transition from an insulator to an ill-defined metal, with a cross-over from diamagnetism to paramagnetism. Extensive efforts have been made to uncover the underlying mechanism, but a consensus has yet to be reached.

ACP has high histological complexity, and the unique features of the immunological microenvironment within ACP remain elusive. Further elucidation of the tumour microenvironment is particularly important to expand our knowledge of potential therapeutic targets.

We synthesized four single VHH-directed anti-BCMA CARs, incorporating various intracellular regions (2B4 versus CD28) and hinge domains (CD28 versus IgG1) and ectopically producing IL-15. NK cells derived from peripheral blood (PB) were expanded ex vivo by K562-mbIL21 feeder cells.

Methods: Serum samples were collected from 23 patients with MMD and 30 healthy controls (HCs).
Hybrid nanostructures have garnered considerable interest because of their fascinating properties owing to the hybridization of materials and their structural varieties. In this study, we report the synthesis of [Au@Rh(OH)]-Au island heterostructures using a seed-mediated sequential growth method. Through the thiol ligand-mediated interfacial energy, Au@Rh(OH) core-shell structures with varying shell thicknesses were successfully obtained.

Methods: The effects of different concentrations of CA4P on proliferation, migration and capillary tube formation of HUVECs were investigated by cell proliferation assay, wound healing assay and capillary tube formation assay, respectively. Thirty-two rabbits implanted with liver VX2 tumors were randomly divided into 4 groups.
Background: Perioperative neurocognitive disorders (PND) is a common postoperative disease in elderly patients, but its pathogenesis remains unclear.
Methods: Exploratory laparotomy was performed to establish PND model under sevoflurane anesthesia. 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing was used to detect the changes of intestinal flora.
We show that the wetting growth of Au on Se seed nanoparticles can be continuously tuned through manipulating the growth kinetics - the reduction rate of HAuCl and the inhibiting effect of DPI-SH ligand. As a result, a series of Se-Au hybrids and anisotropic Au semi-shell structures with different sizes were successfully obtained. With the structural variations, the absorptions of Se-Au hybrids and LSPRs of the Au semi-shells can be continuously tuned within the Visible-NIR spectral range.

In this work, a facile wet chemical method for synthesizing Pd nanosheets and PdPtNi trimetallic alloy nanosheets is developed. Without the introduction of gaseous CO and pressurized equipment, Pd nanosheets with a thickness of ≈2.

However, FMD% is affected by individual differences in blood pressure, blood flow, and arterial diameter. To reduce these differences and enhance the assessment of FMD to endothelial function, we continuously measured not only the brachial artery diameter and blood flow with ultrasound but also blood pressure with noninvasive monitor during standard FMD test.

Murine models have been widely used to investigate the mechanobiology of aortic atherosclerosis and dissections, which develop preferably at different anatomic locations of aorta. Based MRI and finite element analysis with fluid-structure interaction, we numerically investigated factors that may affect the blood flow and structural mechanics of rat aorta. The results indicated that aortic root motion greatly increases time-averaged wall shear stress (TAWSS), oscillatory shear index (OSI), relative residence time (RRT), displacement of the aorta, and enhances helical flow pattern but has limited influence on effective stress, which is highly modulated by blood pressure.

Computed tomographic examination revealed a huge cyst (207 × 93 × 208 mm) in the abdominal cavity, absence of bladder, thickening and strengthening of the rectal wall, and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Colonoscopy showed colon cancer and surgery was planned.

Methods: 206 patients scheduled to receive cervical or lumbar vertebra surgery under general anesthesia for more than 2 hours in a single medical center were observed and analyzed. Patients' serum CRP, delirious status (using the confusion assessment method (CAM)), and delirious score (using the memorial delirium assessment scale (MDAS)) were examined before surgery and 1-2 days after surgery.
Background: As an inflammation-related cytokine, interleukin (IL)-5 has been reported to be involved in the development of cardiovascular diseases, such as chronic heart failure and atherosclerosis. However, the role of IL-5 in acute aortic dissection (AAD) has barely been explored.
Methods: Aortic tissue samples from normal donors and patients with AAD were collected, and the expression and localization of IL-5 in aortic tissue were analyzed.
