Background: Patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) often experience psychological stress.
Objectives: To evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, and potential outcomes of virtual reality (VR) interventions for enhancing patient experience during SICU stay.
Methods: This mixed-method study employed a pre-post-test design complemented by a sequential explanatory approach, conducted from January to December 2023 in the SICU of a hospital in China.
The study is aimed to screen the differential expressed genes (DEGs) related to sperm DNA fragmentation in men and provide reference basis of the sperm selection in assisted reproduction based on DNA fragmentation. We evaluated 60 semen samples from patients with high, medium or low sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI). Using multicolor flow cytometry, we measured the content of reactive oxygen species (ROS), phosphatidylserine (PS) externalization and mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) in these sperm samples.

However, developing efficient heterogeneous EF catalysts and understanding the relevant reaction mechanisms for pollutant degradation remain challenging. We propose a new system that combines aluminum-air battery electrocoagulation (EC) with EF.

As a novel mitochondria-targeted antioxidant, Mito-tempo has been used for sperm cryopreservation. However, it is currently unknown what role it will play in the process of sperm ultra-rapid freezing.

However, the exact mechanism of its cryoprotection at the molecular level is largely unknown. Therefore, in this study, normal human semen samples were selected and MnTBAP (0, 5, 10, 20, 40 μM) was added to sperm freezing medium to assess changes in kinetics parameters, apoptosis, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and DNA fragmentation index (DFI) after sperm ultra-rapid freezing.

Methods: Forty-eight Chinese Zhuang women who underwent elective myomectomy under general anesthesia in our hospital from January 2019 to December 2020 were selected, and another 47 Chinese Han patients in the same period were selected as the control subjects. CYP3A4∗1G and OPRM1 A118G gene polymorphisms as well as sedation and pain scores at different time points after surgery were compared between the two groups of patients to analyze the relationship between the degree of pain and dosage of sufentanil and to analyze the effect of gene polymorphisms on the occurrence of adverse reactions.
The aim was to investigate the influences of different sperm sources on clinical outcome and neonatal outcome of patients with intracytoplasmic sperm injection. We retrospectively analysed patients who underwent intracytoplasmic sperm injection in our reproductive centre from 2011 to 2020. We screened data on assisted reproductive outcomes from four groups of sources: testicular sperm, epididymal sperm, ejaculated sperm and donor sperm for analysis and divided the non-ejaculated group from the ejaculated group to explore their impact on clinical outcomes and neonatal outcomes.

The roasting temperature, holding time, and contents of NaCO and activated carbon are investigated. The optimum process parameters for decomposition are 800 °C and 30 min.

Since Zhoushan cattle have been bred in isolation, they show unique characteristics, such as dark black coat colour. However, no studies have been conducted on the genome of Zhoushan cattle.

The dielectric properties are correlated with information such as thermogravimetry-differential scanning calorimetry and temperature rise curves. This combination permits a targeted study of the mechanism of the microwave roasting process, providing new evidence about the unique conditions of this microwave roasting process.

The process includes microwave radiation roasting to nonoxidatively decompose the bastnasite concentrate, mechanism analysis of Ce(III) not being oxidized to Ce(IV), hydrochloric acid leaching of the nonoxidative roasted ore, and kinetics analysis of the leaching process. The experiments were carried out concentrating on the effect of roasting temperature and holding time on the decomposition rate of the bastnasite concentrate and the oxidation rate of cerium and the effect of acidity, liquid-solid ratio, leaching temperature, and stirring rate on the leaching kinetics of the nonoxidative roasting ore.
