Carbonized polymer dots (CPDs) are a class of exceptional fluorescent materials with diverse applications. However, their photoluminescence (PL) mechanism remained enigmatic and controversial, hindering further development and application. While molecular fluorophores explain primary fluorescence in some CPDs, the overall PL of CPDs still cannot be fully explained, such as their excitation-dependent behaviors, let alone the modulation of PL.

Endometriosis (EM) is a chronic inflammatory disease that is one of the most common causes of gynecological systemic lesions in women before menopause. The most representative histological feature of EM is that the endometrium appears outside of the uterine cavity, often in the ovary. Although it is generally accepted that the epithelial and stromal cells of the ectopic endometrium are not malignant, they still have numerous similarities to malignant tumors, including considerable changes to the immune microenvironment (immune monitoring disorder), the creation of a specific hormone environment, high levels of oxidative stress, chronic inflammation and abnormal immune cell regulation.

Following the publication of this paper, it was drawn to the Editors' attention by a concerned reader that certain of the TUNEL assay data shown in Fig. 4B were strikingly similar to data appearing in different form in another article written by different authors at different research institutes that had already been submitted for publication to the journal (which has subsequently been retracted). Owing to the fact that these contentious data had already apparently been submitted for publication prior to the receipt of this paper to , the Editor has decided that this paper should be retracted from the Journal.

MicroRNA (miRNA)-based therapy holds significant potential; however, its structural limitations pose a challenge to the full exploitation of its biomedical functionality. Framework nucleic acids are promising owing to their transportability, biocompatibility, and functional editability. MiRNA-125 is embedded into a nucleic acid framework to create an enzyme-responsive nanoparachute (NP), enhancing the miRNA loading capacity while preserving the attributes of small-scale framework nucleic acids and circumventing the uncertainty related to RNA exposure in conventional loading methods.

We investigated the effect of uniaxial strain on the electrical properties of few-layer ZrSe devices under compressive and tensile strains applied up to ±0.62% along different crystal directions. We observed that the piezoresponse, the change in resistance upon application of strain, of ZrSe strongly depends on both the direction in which electrical transport occurs and the direction in which uniaxial strain is applied.

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin disorder characterized by high morbidity and a tendency for recurrence. Although biologic therapy for lesion clearance can achieve PASI 90/100, refractory sites remain challenging to completely clear, particularly on the lower legs and elbows. To explore the efficacy of novel treatments for these resistant sites, we present a clinical observation on the safety and effectiveness of fractional carbon dioxide (CO2) laser therapy combined with secukinumab for four patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis.

Hydrophobic organic pollutants in aqueous environments are challenging to biodegrade due to limited contact between microorganisms, the pollutants and the electron acceptor, particularly under anaerobic or anoxic conditions. Here, we propose a novel strategy that uses inexpensive, dual-function elemental sulfur (S) to enhance biodegradation. Using petroleum hydrocarbons as the target pollutants, we demonstrated that hydrophobic and nonpolar S° can concentrate hydrocarbons while simultaneously serving as an electron acceptor to enrich hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria.
