We aimed to assess the association of menopause with death and CVD and whether this association was modified by cardiovascular risk factors.
Methods: The study population was women age 35-64 years living in two communities of Beijing who were enrolled in the Chinese Multi-provincial Cohort Study in 1992.
Objectives: Observational studies suggest that the risk of cardiovascular disease increases during menopause; however, the menopause-related risk of subclinical atherosclerosis is unclear. The aim of the current study is to evaluate menopause and the risk of subclinical carotid atherosclerosis through a retrospective analysis of data from a population-based prospective cohort study.
Study Design: The study sample comprised 879 women in the Beijing community enrolled in the Chinese Multi-provincial Cohort Study at baseline study in 1992 and followed up to at least one carotid ultrasound examination at three on-site follow-up surveys.

Objective: To observe the chitooligosaccharides (COS) effect on the proliferation inhibition and radiosensitivity of three types of human gastric cancer cell line.
Mothods: CCK-8 assay was employed to obtain the inhibition ratio of COS on BGC823 cells, MKN45 cells and SGC7901 cells at 48 h after treatment and the proliferation-inhibition curve was drawn with the inhibition ratio of COS on three types of cells. The clonogenic assay was used to detect the cell viability of 0, 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 Gy (6 dose grades) in RAY group and RAY + COS group after X-ray, and the cell survival curve was used to analyze the sensitization enhancement ratio of COS.

Methods: Relevant trials were identified through systematic searches of Medline, EMBASE, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar and several Chinese databases. The main outcome measures included absolute and relative reduction of intraocular pressure (IOP) at mean, peak and trough from baseline, ocular adverse effects and systemic adverse events.

Objective: To determine the epidemiological characteristics and associated risk factors of hepatitis B surface antigens (HBsAg) prevalence in rural areas of Hua County, Henan Province, and to provide scientific evidence for Hepatitis B prevention and control in local areas.
Methods: On the basis of an ongoing esophageal cancer cohort study in rural Anyang, a total of 5 104 subjects aged 25-65 years were clustered and selected from 5 targeted villages for this study in rural areas of Hua County, Henan Province. HBsAg was detected in their blood samples and a questionnaire was completed by all the subjects in a manner of one-on-one interview.
Eleven novel human papillomavirus (HPV) types were isolated and characterized from healthy individuals in China. HPV163 belongs to the γ-1 species, HPV 164 and HPV 168 fit in the γ-8 species, HPV 165 and KC5 belongs to the γ-12 species, HPV 168 is closely allied with the γ-4 species, HPV 169 is closely related to the γ-11 species, and HPV 170 is related to the γ-12 species. In addition, HPV 161, HPV 162, and HPV 166 may form a new HPV species of the γ-PV genus.
