Socioeconomic factors and mitigation potentials are essential drivers of the dynamics of nutrient emissions, yet these drivers are rarely examined at broad spatiotemporal scales. Here, we combine material flow analysis and geospatial analysis to examine the past and future changes of nitrogen and phosphorus emissions in China. Results show that anthropogenic nitrogen and phosphorus emissions increased by 17% and 32% during 2000-2019, respectively.

Nuclear receptor related-1 (Nurr1), a ligand-activated transcription factor, is considered a potential susceptibility gene for Parkinson's disease (PD), and has been demonstrated to possess protective effects against inflammation-induced neuronal damage. Despite the evidence showing decreased NURR1 level and increased pro-inflammatory cytokines in cell and animal models as well as in PD patients' peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), the underlying mechanism remains elusive. Nickel- and iron-containing layered double hydroxides (NiFe-LDHs) are prospective electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), but they suffer from poor electrical conductivity and inaccessible active sites. Herein, we employ a facile and efficient quenching strategy to modify the morphology and surface characteristics of NiFe-LDHs by rapid cooling in a series of salt solutions. After quenching in a SnCl solution, the modified NiFe-LDHs exhibit a low overpotential of 204 mV at a current density of 10 mA·cm and Tafel slope of 58.
