Objective: The goal of this current research was to explore the impact of cancer-related fatigue on the quality of life among patients with cancer, as well as the multiple mediating roles of psychological coherence and stigma.

Methods: This study utilized a cross-sectional design. A questionnaire was administered between November 2022 and May 2023 to 364 patients with cancer in two tertiary hospitals in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, China.

The associations between emotional empathy, emotional intelligence, and COVID-19-related stress among nursing students: a cross-sectional study.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has variably affected the stress levels among students. Nursing students, as the reserve force of medical resources and the successors of frontline nursing staff, warrant particular attention regarding their stress levels. This study investigates the relationship between emotional empathy, emotional intelligence, and COVID-19-related stress in nursing students and examines the masking role of emotional intelligence in this relationship.

The relationship between sleep quality and quality of life in middle-aged and older inpatients with chronic diseases: Mediating role of frailty and moderating role of self-esteem.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the influence of sleep quality on the quality of life in middle-aged and older inpatients with chronic diseases (MAOICDs) while examining the mediating role of frailty and the moderating role of self-esteem.

Characterizing identity by descent segments in Chinese interpopulation unrelated individual pairs.

Identity by descent (IBD) segments, uninterrupted DNA segments derived from the same ancestral chromosomes, are widely used as indicators of relationships in genetics. A great deal of research focuses on IBD segments between related pairs, while the statistical analyses of segments in irrelevant individuals are rare. In this study, we investigated the basic informative features of IBD segments in unrelated pairs in Chinese populations from the 1000 Genome Project.

Nursing students' emotions, educational concerns, and the impact of study careers and professional futures during the COVID-19 pandemic: a cross-sectional study.

Background: COVID-19 is a challenge to education systems worldwide. The aim of the study was to explore the impact of COVID-19-pandemic-related emotions and COVID-19-related concern for education on the study careers and professional futures of nursing students.

To investigate the association between the mental health of nursing students, the stress of higher education, and academic goal orientation. At a medical college, 1170 nursing students volunteered for this cross-sectional survey. The Warwick-Edinburgh Well-being Scale, the Higher Education Stress Scale, and the Academic Goal Orientation Questionnaire were utilised to collect data.

Relationship between self-esteem and quality of life in middle-aged and older patients with chronic diseases: mediating effects of death anxiety.

Background: Many studies have explored the relationship between self-esteem and quality of life. However, few studies have elucidated the mechanisms underlying the relationship between self-esteem and quality of life in middle-aged and older patients with chronic diseases. The present study aimed to explore the mediating role of death anxiety in this relationship.

Development of a 39 MM-InDel multiplex assay for the forensic application.

Insertion/deletion polymorphisms (InDels) are a category of highly prevalent markers in the human genome, characterized by their distinctive attributes, including short amplicon sizes and low mutation rates, which have shown great potential in forensic applications. Multi-allelic InDel and multi-InDel markers, collectively abbreviated as MM-InDels, were developed to enhance polymorphism by the introduction of novel alleles. Nevertheless, the relatively low mutation rates of InDels, coupled with the founder effect, result in distinct allele frequency distributions among populations.

Psychological resilience and quality of life among middle-aged and older adults hospitalized with chronic diseases: multiple mediating effects through sleep quality and depression.

Background: The present study is intended to examine the multiple mediating roles of sleep quality and depression in the relationship between psychological resilience and quality of life in middle-aged and older adults hospitalized with chronic diseases.

Methods: From October 2, 2021, to February 27, 2022, a questionnaire survey was conducted using a multistage stratified sampling method among 339 middle-aged and older adults (45 years and over) hospitalized with chronic diseases. These participants were recruited from a hospital in Zhejiang Province, China.

Validation of phylogenetic informative Y-InDels in Y-chromosomal haplogroup O-M175.

The Y-chromosomal haplogroup tree, which consists of a group of Y-chromosomal loci with phylogenetic information, has been widely applied in anthropology, archaeology and population genetics. With the continuous updating of the phylogenetic structure, Y-chromosomal haplogroup tree provides more information for recalling the biogeographical origin of Y chromosomes. Generally, Y-chromosomal insertion-deletion polymorphisms (Y-InDels) are genetically stable as Y-chromosomal single nucleotide polymorphisms (Y-SNPs), and therefore carry mutations that can accumulate over generations.
