Diabetic nephropathy (DN) represents a major diabetes-related complication, which could undermine renal function. CircCOL1A2 has been previously reported to show abnormal expression during DN. However, its functional role in the progression of DN, as well as the potential molecular mechanisms, remains unclear.

Early identification of individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is essential to combat worldwide dementia threats. Physical function indicators might be low-cost early markers for cognitive decline. To establish an early identification tool for MCI by combining physical function indicators (upper and lower limb function) via a clinical prediction modeling strategy.

Background And Purpose: If the preoperative pathological information is inadequate, a risk classification may not be able to be determined for some patients with neuroblastoma. Our objectives were to include imaging factors, serum biomarkers, and demographic factors in a nomogram to distinguish high-risk patients before surgical resection based on the COG classification.

Method: A total of 106 patients were included in the study.

Objective: To analyze the Doppler ultrasound blood flow of Renying (carotid artery) pulse, Cunkou (radial artery) pulse, and Fuyang (anterior tibial artery) pulse in the normal group and the functional constipation with gastrointestinal heat (FCGH) group, and to compare and explore the differences of Renying, Cunkou and Fuyang pulses.

Methods: Sixty normal subjects and 60 patients with gastrointestinal heat constipation were collected in the department of ultrasound, Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University. Doppler ultrasound was used to observe the blood flow indexes including maximum systolic velocity (Vp), maximum diastolic velocity (Vd), mean velocity (Vm), pulse index (PI), resistance index (RI), vascular diameter (D), and circulation blood flow cycle (ET) of Renying pulse, Cunkou pulse and Fuyang pulse in the normal group and patients with gastrointestinal heat constipation.

Background: Many studies have addressed the relationship between environmental factors and cognitive function; however, evidence from China is very rare.

Objectives: To discuss the relationship between the living and built environment and cognitive function among older Chinese adults.

Design: The Anhui Healthy Longevity Survey (AHLS) was used to investigate the ability to control major non-communicable diseases through behavioural techniques among adults aged 60 or older dwelling in Anhui Province.

The main manifestation of obesity is persistent low-level inflammation and insulin resistance, which is an important factor inducing or promoting other obesity-related diseases. As a proinflammatory programmed cell death, pyroptosis plays an important role, especially in the activation and regulation of the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway. Pyroptosis is associated with the pathogenesis of many chronic inflammatory diseases and is characterized by the formation of micropores in the plasma membrane and the release of a large number of proinflammatory cytokines.

Introduction: CD30+ primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma (PC-ALCL) is a rare T-cell neoplasm, and has been reported to present with an indolent behavior. The PC-ALCL with aggressive behavior has not been reported in the literature.

Patient Concerns: We treated a patient with PC-ALCL that exhibited indolent behavior in the past 2 years and aggressive behavior within the last 3 months before presentation.

Phytoremediation technology has been applied for heavy metal elimination for many years, however little research about the difference of remediation efficiency of hyperaccumulator in different soils was reported. Here, a pot experiment was conducted with a cadmium (Cd)/zinc hyperaccumulator Sedum alfredii Hance grown on different types of soils and the differences of its endophytic bacterial community were elucidated. The results showed that the biomass of S.

Background: Ischemic tolerance is an endogenous protective mechanism in organs or tissues undergoing one or more short-term sublethal ischemias. Intermittent hypobaric hypoxia preconditioning (IHHP) can induce tolerance and thus protect brain tissues from cerebral ischemic injury (CIR). The current study evaluated the neuroprotective effect of IHHP.

The fate of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is regulated by biological, physical and chemical signals. Developments in biotechnology and materials science promoted the occurrence of bioactive materials which can provide physical and chemical signals for MSCs to regulate their fate. In order to design and synthesize materials that can precisely regulate the fate of MSCs, the relationship between the properties of materials and the fate of mesenchymal stem cells need to be clarified, in which the detection of the fate of mesenchymal stem cells plays an important role.

We propose a comprehensive point spread function (PSF) degradation model, which considers multiple factors consisting of degradation of specimen retardant sampling and polarization angularly anamorphic sampling, to indicate the image degradation characteristics of polarization imaging systems. First, a one-layer optical coherence tomography (OCT) model was established to express the retardancy of medium-loading specimens. Then, a PSF degradation model of angularly anamorphic polarization sampling was deduced through the retrieval of Stokes parameters.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) in Kunming, China, both before and after HPV vaccines were introduced.
  • A total of 28,959 patients participated, with HPV genotyping revealing that the overall prevalence rates before and after vaccination were 17.74% and 17.11%, respectively, which showed no significant change.
  • Despite the overall rates being stable, variations in HPV infection rates were noted across different age groups, indicating a complex impact of the vaccine introduction.

Background: In order to make up for the efficacy of sensory assessment of green tea quality and taste, main flavor substances should be quantitatively characterized based on efficient extraction and frontier determination scheme.

Methods: A new, relatively simple sample preparation and detection workflow has been developed for the quantification and confirmation of flavor substances in green tea by microwave-assisted extraction combined with ultra-high-performance LC and quadrupole/Q-Exactive high-resolution MS system. The method identified main flavor substances (i.

Normally, the gut microbiota has a mutually beneficial association with host health and maintains its commensal status in mammals. Conversely, it can also negatively influence host physiology under some certain circumstances, including obesity and other disease states. Although numerous gut microbial functions directly affect the gastrointestinal tract, in this paper, we focus on the influences of the gut microbiota on host adipose tissue and energy metabolism, particularly lipometabolism.

Precartilaginous stem cells (PSCs) are adult stem cells which could self-renew or differentiate into chondrocytes to promote bone growth. In this study, we aimed to understand the role of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) in precartilaginous stem cell (PSC) differentiation and to study the mechanisms that underlie this role. We purified PSCs from the neonatal murine perichondrial mesenchyme using immunomagnetic beads, and primary cultured them.

Two new hole transporting materials, 2,7-bis(9,9-diphenylacridin-10(9)-yl)-9,9' spirobi[fluorene] (SP1) and 2,7-di(10-phenothiazin-10-yl)-9,9'-spirobi[fluorene] (SP2), were designed and synthesized by using the Buchwald-Hartwig coupling reaction with a high yield percentage of over 84%. Both of the materials exhibited high glass transition temperatures of over 150 °C. In order to understand the device performances, we have fabricated green phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes (PhOLEDs) with SP1 and SP2 as hole transporting materials.

Article Synopsis
  • - Early diagnosis of atherosclerosis is important in medicine, but it's a complex disease influenced by multiple factors.
  • - Asiaticoside (AA), a compound from Centella asiatica, has anti-inflammatory properties and was tested on human umbilical endothelial cells exposed to oxidized LDL-induced inflammation.
  • - The study found that AA significantly reduced endothelial permeability and levels of certain adhesion molecules (like ICAM-1 and VCAM-1), suggesting it may help prevent early stages of atherosclerosis.
