Background: Shortening the recipient warm ischemia time (rWIT) has been proven to be effective for improving the short- and long-term outcomes after liver transplantation (LT) and offsets the negative impact of an extended cold ischemia time. However, few studies have been conducted to explore the prognostic effects of shortening the rWIT in transplantations using a liver graft from an extended-criteria donor (ECD).
Aim: To investigate whether shortening the rWIT could improve the outcomes of ECD LT.

Purpose: To investigate the impact of implementing a pre-hospitalization optimization strategy on the length of stay and hospital costs for patients undergoing gallbladder surgery at a tertiary hospital, this study aims to analyze patient characteristics relevant to pre-hospitalization gallbladder surgery, focusing on age and underlying medical conditions.
Method: The data from patients who underwent the pre-hospitalization optimization strategy were analyzed and compared with that of patients receiving standard hospitalization to determine whether there were statistically significant differences in duration of stay and associated costs.
Results: Under the optimal management strategy for pre-hospitalization, we analyzed the hospitalization of patients with and without underlying diseases, specifically comparing those aged over 65 years to those under 65 years, against a cohort of general hospitalized patients.
Hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) can lead to the disorder of gut microbiota in mice, resulting in the increase of endotoxin content. HTG can also aggravate the damage of intestinal barrier function and intestinal bacterial translocation in acute pancreatitis (AP) mice. Toll-like receptor 4 gene knockout can significantly reduce gut permeability and endotoxin invasion in AP mice.

Methods: We included studies that measured forced expiratory volume at 1 s (FEV1) between 6 and 18 months postoperatively, comparing it to the predicted postoperative FEV1 (ppoFEV1) using the segment-counting method. The extent of lung resection was correlated with the ratio of postoperative FEV1 to ppoFEV1.
The current studies have shown that the occurrence and development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are closely related to the changes in gut health and its microenvironment, and even some gut diseases have significant clinical correlation with COPD. The dysbiosis of gut microbiota observed in COPD patients also suggests a potential bidirectional interaction between the gut and lung. Communication between the gut and lung may occur through circulating inflammatory cells, gut microbial metabolites, and circulating inflammatory mediators, but the mechanism of bidirectional communication between the gut and lung in COPD is still under study.
