Article Synopsis
  • Soil compaction significantly hinders root development and plant growth, especially when coupled with drought, which further increases soil mechanical impedance.
  • An experiment revealed that varying levels of soil compaction led to decreased porosity and pore size, negatively impacting soil health and root attributes like length and volume.
  • Overall plant growth measures, such as biomass and height, were adversely affected by soil compaction, with drought conditions worsening these impacts; significant correlations were found between soil pore structure and maize growth.

Succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors are essential fungicides used in agriculture. To explore new pyrazole-carboxamides with high fungicidal activity, a series of N-substitutedphenyl-3-di/trifluoromethyl-1-methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxamides bearing a branched alkyl ether moiety were designed and synthesized. The in vitro bioassay indicated that some target compounds displayed appreciable fungicidal activity.
