Background: Numerous experiments and clinical practices have demonstrated the effectiveness of Qishen Yiqi dripping pills (QSYQ) on myocardial ischemia (MI). However, the bioactive ingredients and mechanisms remain unclear, leading to huge gaps between quality control and biological effect of QSYQ. Discovering quality markers (Q-markers) based on effective components is crucial for ensuring stable quality and clinical effectiveness of QSYQ.

Dan-deng-tong-nao capsule (DDTN) is a traditional Chinese medicine used clinically to treat cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI) for many years. However, little is known about the effects of DDTN in the treatment of CIRI from the perspective of gut microbiota and metabolites.

Methods: In this work, Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI) was used to visualize the spatial imaging of the root, stem, and leaf of Scutellaria baicalensis at a high resolution of 10 μm, respectively, investigating the spatial distribution of the different secondary metabolites in the aerial and underground parts of Scutellaria baicalensis.
Results: In the present results, various metabolites, such as flavonoid glycosides, flavonoid metabolites, and phenolic acids, were systematically characterized in Scutellaria baicalensis root, stem, and leaf.
The study aimed to explore the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic alterations of the active components of Shenkang injection (i.e. hydroxy saffron yellow pigment A [HSYA], tanshinol, rheum emodin, and astragaloside IV) in rats with chronic renal failure (CRF), and establish a pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic model (PK-PD model) in order to provide a scientific and theoretical basis for the rational clinical use of Shenkang injection.

Therefore, anlotinib has been considered as a promising candidate in glioma. The aim of this study was to investigate the metabolic network of C6 cells after exposure to anlotinib and to identify anti-glioma mechanism from the perspective of metabolic reprogramming.

Tandem mass spectral (MS/MS) data in liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis are often contaminated as the selection of precursor ions is based on a low-resolution quadrupole mass filter. In this work, we developed a strategy to differentiate contamination fragment ions (CFIs) from true fragment ions (TFIs) in an MS/MS spectrum. The rationale is that TFIs should coelute with their parent ions, but CFIs should not.

Although terpenoids are the main active ingredients of AOF, there are few researches on their pharmacokinetics and metabolism.
Methods: In this study, a sensitive, rapid, accurate and novel ultra high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method was established to evaluate the pharmacokinetic behavior of five terpenoids (oxyphyllenodiol B, (4S*,5E,10R*)-7-oxo-tri-nor-eudesm-5-en-4β-ol, 7-epi-teucrenone, (+)- (4R,5S,7R)-13-hydroxynootkatone, (E)-labda-12,14-dien-15(16)-olide-17-oic acid) in rats after oral administration of AOF extracts.
Rationale: The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is increasing but its early diagnosis in high risk populations remains challenging using only fasting blood glucose (FBG) or hemoglobin A1c measurements. It is, therefore, important to search for an integrated biomarker for early diagnosis by determining metabolites associated with the progression of the disease.
Methods: We recruited 149 participants (51 T2DM patients, 50 individuals with impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and 48 normal glucose tolerance subjects).
Trepibutone was widely used for cholelithiasis, cholecystitis, biliary tract dyskinesia, cholecystectomy syndrome, and chronic pancreatitis in clinic. However, few investigations on trepibutone have been conducted. In this study, an accurate, sensitive, and selective analytical method was developed and successfully applied to assess the pharmacokinetic behavior of trepibutone in rats.

However, the underlying molecular mechanisms are not yet well understood. Many factors may contribute to differences in the survival of IDH1 wild-type and IDH1 mutant glioma patients, in which immune components play a potentially important role.
