Purpose: To explore the risk factors of delirium in patients with stroke and develop a nomogram model to predict the occurrence of delirium.
Methods: Convenience sampling was used to select 502 patients with stroke admitted to a tertiary hospital with a neurology specialty in Tianjin from December 2023 to June 2024, who were categorized into the delirium group (n=141) and the non-delirium group (n=361) using the ICU Patient Ambiguity of Consciousness Assessment Scale. We explored the independent risk factors for the occurrence of delirium through univariate and multifactorial logistic regression analyses, established a risk prediction model, developed a nomogram, and validated the model both internally and externally.
Peritoneal metastasis (PM) is common in colorectal cancer (CRC), yet its underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. Here, we explored the transcriptional profile of CRC, PM and adjacent tissues revealing key players that facilitate PM. Single-cell analysis of 48 matched samples from 12 patients revealed that remodeling of malignant cells and the tumor microenvironment promotes CRC progression and metastasis.

Objective: This study aimed to determine the impact of symptom-to-surgery time on mortality in acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) patients, with and without malperfusion.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 288 ATAAD patients was conducted. Patients were separated into the early (≤10 h) and late (>10 h) groups by symptom-to-surgery time.
Minimally invasive blood-contacting interventional devices are increasingly used to treat cardiovascular diseases. However, the risk of device-related thrombosis remains a significant concern, particularly the formation of cycling thrombi, which pose life-threatening risks. Background: While de novo cholesterol biosynthesis plays a crucial role in chemotherapy resistance of colorectal cancer (CRC), the underlying molecular mechanism remains poorly understood.
Methods: We conducted cell proliferation assays on CRC cells with or without depletion of squalene epoxidase (SQLE), with or without 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) treatment. Additionally, a xenograft mouse model was utilized to explore the impact of SQLE on the chemosensitivity of CRC to 5-FU.
Objective: With an aging population and advancements in imaging, recurrence of thoracic aortic dissection is becoming more common.
Methods: All patients enrolled in the International Registry of Aortic Dissection from 1996 to 2023 with type A and type B acute aortic dissection were identified. Among them, initial dissection and recurrent dissection were discerned.

In this study, we unveiled that ISM1 is significantly overexpressed in both the blood and tissue samples of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients, correlating with their poor prognosis. Functional experiments demonstrated that enforced ISM1 expression significantly enhances CRC proliferation, migration, invasion and tumor growth.

Inflammation-driven endothelial dysfunction is the major initiating factor in atherosclerosis, while the underlying mechanism remains elusive. Here, we report that the non-canonical stimulator of interferon genes (STING)-PKR-like ER kinase (PERK) pathway was significantly activated in both human and mice atherosclerotic arteries. Typically, STING activation leads to the activation of interferon regulatory factor 3 (IRF3) and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-B)/p65, thereby facilitating signals and inflammation.

In this study, naringin (NAR), a pharmacologically active flavonoid with low solubility and in vivo degradation issues, was utilized as a model active pharmaceutical ingredient to construct nanomedicine-based DPI through SAS-FB. It is showed that processed NAR exhibited a near-spherical shape and an amorphous structure with an average size of around 130 nm.

LARS occurs in 80% of patients undergoing sphincter-preserving surgery, affecting patients' quality of life along with social avoidance. Different measurements and treatments have been raised to deal with LARS, but no systematic standard has been developed.
