A very simple and atom-economical method for the synthesis of vicinal trifluoromethyl thioethers via DBN-catalyzed hydrothiolation of α-(trifluoromethyl)styrenes with thiols was reported. The reaction proceeded smoothly under mild reaction conditions and provided the β-CF-thioethers in moderate to good yields in an anti-Markovnikov manner. Furthermore, this method features several remarkable advantages, such as the use of a catalytic amount of DBN, broad substrate scope, excellent functional group compatibility, and easy scalability.

A novel two-step synthesis of β-trifluoromethyl primary amines from readily available α-(trifluoromethyl)styrenes and phthalimide is developed. The first step involves a hydroamination between α-(trifluoromethyl)styrenes and phthalimide (PhthNH) with the assistance of a base. Next, the hydrazinolysis of the resulting -(β-trifluoromethyl-β-arylethyl)phthalimides with hydrazine hydrate affords the desired -(β-trifluoromethyl-β-arylethyl)amines.

In this paper, a high-performance ion exclusion chromatographic (ICE) method was developed and applied for monitoring maleic hydrazide (MH) translocation in complex potato plant tissue and tuber matrices. After middle leaf uptake, most MH was trapped and dissipated in the middle leaf, and the rest was transported to other parts mainly through the phloem. Soil absorption significantly reduced the uptake efficiency of the root system, in which MH was partitioned to dissipate in root protoplasts or transfer through the xylem and persisted in the plant.

Pesticides are widely used to increase agricultural productivity, however, weak adhesion and deposition lead to low efficient utilization. Herein, we prepare a nanopesticide formulation (tebuconazole nanopesticides) which is leaf-adhesive, and water-dispersed via a rapid nanoparticle precipitation method, flash nanoprecipitation, using temperature-responsive copolymers poly-(2-(dimethylamino)ethylmethylacrylate)-b-poly(ε-caprolactone) as the carrier. Compared with commercial suspensions, the encapsulation by the polymer improves the deposition of TEB, and the contact angle on foliage is lowered by 40.

Exploring the origin of emission is fundamental in the field of carbon dots (CDs). Due to the lack of suitable probing techniques, it is necessary to explore effective alternative methods that can accurately reflect the relationship between the emission and the composition of the functional groups of CDs. Herein, we propose a new method of post-synthetic treatment of CDs by photo-oxidation to investigate the origin of emission for CDs.

The application of fungicide mixture is one of the most important measures to extend the service life of highly selective fungicides. Pyraclostrobin (PYR), which has been extensively used to control plant diseases by inhibiting mitochondrial respiration of pathogenic fungi, is at a high risk of resistance development. In this study, the potential of PYR alone or in combination with cystamine, an inhibitor of microbial transglutaminase, to suppress Fusarium graminearum was tested in vitro and in vivo.
