We aimed to examine the temporal trends in mortality and years of life lost (YLLs) caused by stroke among young adults from 2005 to 2020 across China.
Methods: Based on the data from the National Mortality Surveillance System in China, we estimated the number and age-standardized rate of mortality and YLLs due to stroke and its subtypes among young adults aged 15-49 years during 2005-2020, for both China and its 31 mainland provinces.
Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disorder characterized by a malfunction of the body's immune defense system.
Objective: The objective of the present investigation was to examine the expression and diagnostic significance of NRIR in SLE and to prove whether it is involved in the progression of SLE.
Methods: The study involved 110 participants, including 55 healthy individuals and 55 SLE patients.
Background: Death burden of stroke is severe in China with over one-third rural residents, but there is still a lack of specific national and high-quality reports on the urban-rural differences in stroke burden, especially for subtypes. We aimed to update the understanding of urban-rural differences in stroke deaths.
Methods: This is a descriptive observational study.
Normobaric hyperoxia (NBO) is a potentially promising stroke treatment strategy that could protect the ischemic penumbra and could be administered as an adjunct before vascular recanalization. However, the efficacy and safety of NBO have not been confirmed by randomized controlled trials. The study aims to assess the efficacy and safety of NBO for ischemic stroke due to large artery occlusion (LVO) of acute anterior circulation among patients who had endovascular treatment (EVT) and were randomized within 6 h from symptom onset.

Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is a cerebrovascular disease that seriously affects the physical and mental health and quality of life of patients. However, there is a lack of reliable prognostic prediction methods. The main objective of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) H19 in lymphocytes of patients with AIS, and to construct a prognostic prediction model for AIS including lncRNA H19 in lymphocytes, which would provide new ideas for the prognostic evaluation of AIS.

Aim: The aim of the study was to test the hypothesis that intravenous administration of tirofiban, initiated within 24 h of ictus and continued for consecutive 72 h, would be more effective than aspirin in reducing the risk of ND within 72 h of enrollment among patients with potentially atherothrombotic ischemic stroke.
Background: N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is one of the most extensive RNA methylation modifications in eukaryotes and participates in the pathogenesis of numerous diseases including ischemic stroke. Peripheral blood neutrophils are forerunners after ischemic brain injury and exert crucial functions. This study aims to explore the transcriptional profiles of m6A modification in neutrophils of patients with ischemic stroke.

Understanding the relationship between human activities and environmental changes in this extreme environment is important and can provide a historical reference for adapting to future climate change. In this study, we took the Angren Basin in the southern TP as a case study to elucidate the relationship since Little Ice Age (LIA).

The ultra-early administration of rtPA is essential for restoring perfusion in acute ischemic stroke, though it concurrently elevates the risk of hemorrhagic transformation. High-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) emerges as a pivotal player in neuroinflammation after brain ischemia and ischemia-reperfusion.

We included 173 AIS patients who attained complete reperfusion, as indicated by a Modified Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction (mTICI) scale score of 3. Our approach involved a thorough analysis of clinical factors, imaging biomarkers, and potential no-reflow biomarkers through both univariate and multivariate analyses to identify predictors of futile recanalization.

The authors aim to describe our preliminary experience of endovascular cooling in patients with a large AIS after recanalization.
Methods: From January 2021 to July 2022, AIS patients presenting with large infarcts (defined as ASPECTS ≤5 on noncontrast CT or ischemic core ≥50 ml on CT perfusion) who achieved successful recanalization after endovascular treatment were analyzed in a prospective registry.
Purpose: In patients undergoing endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) with acute ischemic stroke (AIS), dynamic cerebral autoregulation (dCA) may minimize neurological injury from blood pressure fluctuations. This study set out to investigate the function of dCA in predicting clinical outcomes following EVT.
Methods: 43 AIS of the middle cerebral or internal carotid artery patients underwent with EVT, and 43 healthy individuals (controls) were enrolled in this case control research.
Importance: Evidence supports using antiplatelet therapy in patients with acute ischemic stroke. However, neurological deterioration remains common under the currently recommended antiplatelet regimen, leading to poor clinical outcomes.
Objective: To determine whether intravenous tirofiban administered within 24 hours of stroke onset prevents early neurological deterioration in patients with acute noncardioembolic stroke compared with oral aspirin.
Background: Intermittent hypoxia (IH) is emerging as a cost-effective nonpharmacological method for vital organ protection. We aimed to assess the effects of a short-term moderate intermittent hypoxia preconditioning protocol (four cycles of 13% hypoxia lasting for 10 min with 5-min normoxia intervals) on acute hypoxic injury induced by sustained hypoxic exposure (oxygen concentration of 11.8% for 6 h).

Methods: Consecutive AIS patients who underwent EVT between June 2019 and June 2021 were enrolled and divided into non-night shift work and night shift work groups based on their occupational histories. The primary outcome was the modified Rankin Scale score defined 3-month functional outcome.
Background: and Purpose: Hemorrhagic transformation (HT) is one of the severe complications in acute ischemic stroke, especially for the patients who undergo recanalization treatment. It is crucial to screen patients who have high risk of HT before recanalization. However, current prediction models based on clinical factors are not ideal for clinical practice.

Methods And Results: We retrospectively analyzed 166 consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke (62±11.54 years of age, 34.
Objectives: Computed tomography perfusion (CTP) and computed tomography angiography (CTA) have been recommended to select acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients for endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) but are not widely used for post-treatment evaluation. We aimed to observe abnormalities in CTP and CTA before and after EVT and evaluate post-EVT CTP and CTA as potential tools for improving clinical outcome prediction.
Methods: Patients with AIS who underwent EVT and received CTP and CTA before and after EVT were retrospectively evaluated.
Background: Approximately half of AIS patients have an unfavorable outcome even after complete reperfusion. White blood cell (WBC) count to mean platelet volume (MPV) ratio (WMR) may be a promising predictive factor for futile recanalization. This study aimed to determine the predictive value of WMR in identifying individuals at higher risk of futile recanalization.
