Objective: To explore the status quo and influencing factors of feeding behaviors of micronutrient powders (MNP), or yingyangbao in Pinyin, the Chinese Romanization system, of baby caregivers in remote rural areas of Sichuan Province.

Methods: In 2019, caregivers of babies aged 6 to 24 months from 6 counties of Sichuan Province were selected as the respondents of the survey through a multistage cluster random sampling method. Data concerning the baby caregivers' attitude of behavior, subjective norms, behavioral intention, and feeding behaviors about MNP feeding were collected with a questionnaire through a structured interview.

Objective We used standardized patients to evaluate the accuracy and explore the influencing factors of the diagnosis of unstable angina pectoris and type 2 diabetes by primary healthcare providers in Sichuan rural areas, aiming to provide a scientific basis for improving the diagnosis accuracy of primary healthcare providers for the two chronic diseases. Methods A multi-stage stratified random cluster sampling method was adopted to select 100 villages from 50 townships in 5 districts/counties in Zigong city,Sichuan province. General and internal medicine practioners who were on duty on the survey day were enrolled in the survey.

Article Synopsis
  • COVID-19 originated in Wuhan, China in December 2019, leading to widespread respiratory illness with significant global spread by January 2020, prompting a declaration of a Public Health Emergency by the WHO.
  • A scoping review analyzed 65 articles before January 31, 2020, focusing on the virus's epidemiology, causes, and methods for prevention and control, with a majority of sources from Chinese scholars.
  • Findings indicate that while the virus is linked to a seafood market in Wuhan, causes and preventative measures have become the primary focus of research, with symptoms ranging from fever to pneumonia and no specific antiviral treatment available yet.

Objective: To understand the current situation of soil-transmitted nematode infections and influencing factors of pupils in rural areas of Yi Ethnicity in Butuo County, Sichuan Province, so as to provide the evidence for the prevention and control of soil-transmitted nematode infections.

Methods: In 2016, the pupils of 2 villages in Butuo County were selected by the multi-stage random sampling method, and the relevant information was obtained by questionnaires, including social demographic information, diet and hygiene habits and acknowledge of parasitic disease prevention. The soil-transmitted nematode infections were examined by Kato-Katz technique.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a common, severe and recurrent psychiatric disorder worldwide; however, the underlying neuropathological mechanisms remain elusive. Histone deacetylases (HDACs) appear to play an essential role in depression. As the class III HDACs, Sirt1 and Sirt2 have attracted the most interest in the nervous system.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is an irreversible and progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the selective loss of dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra pars compacta. Growing evidence indicates that endoplasmic reticulum stress is a hallmark of PD; however, its exact contribution to the disease process remains poorly understood. Here, we used molecular biology methods and RNA-Seq analysis to explored an unexpected role of spliced X-Box binding protein 1 (XBP1s) in the nervous system.

Gordon Holmes syndrome (GHS) is a rare Mendelian neurodegenerative disorder characterized by ataxia and hypogonadism. Recently, it was suggested that disordered ubiquitination underlies GHS though the discovery of exome mutations in the E3 ligase RNF216 and deubiquitinase OTUD4. We performed exome sequencing in a family with two of three siblings afflicted with ataxia and hypogonadism and identified a homozygous mutation in STUB1 (NM_005861) c.

Objective: The aim of the study was to compare the cost-effectiveness, efficacy and safety of using a reloading multiband ligator with a neotype conductor (SD-c) with using a disposable one for endoscopic variceal ligation (EVL) over subsequent sessions.

Methods: Patients undergoing variceal ligation over subsequent sessions were randomly subjected to EVL using a reloading multiband ligator with an SD-c (reloading group) or a disposable ligator (control group). The cost, efficacy and safety were analyzed and compared between the two groups.

The study aimed to construct the amplicon vector of HSV-1 strain HF and explore its universal package function between different serotypes of HSV. OriS and pac elements were obtained by enzyme digestion from the Plasmid BAC-HSV-1 strain HF and sequenced. With red fluorescence (DsRed) as a reporter gene, the amplicon vector of HSV-1 strain HF was constructed based on pSilencer2.

To construct the plasmid of BAC-HSV-1 with GFP reporter gene and research the biological property of its infectious progeny virus. We constructed the plasmid C223-UL43-left-arms-UL47-right-arms which carried the homologous sequences of HSV-1. Liposome embedding method was used to transfect HSV-1 genome and the plasmid C223-UL43-left-arms-UL47-right-arms linearized by Mlu I digestion into Vero cells.

Objectives: To investigate the expression of FLK1, CD146 and microvessel density of angiogenesis at the first week of reperfused acute myocardial infarction (AMI).

Methods: 16 of mini-swines (20 to 30 Kg) were randomly assigned to the sham-operated group and the AMI group. Pathologic myocardial tissue was collected at day 7 following reperfusion and detected by dual immunochemistry, real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blot.
