Article Synopsis
- LAMP (Loop-mediated isothermal amplification) is a fast and highly sensitive method for detecting Listeria monocytogenes, a harmful foodborne bacterium.
- It uses a specific set of six primers targeting the hlyA gene and can produce results in about 40 minutes at 65°C.
- In tests comparing LAMP with traditional PCR, LAMP showed 100% accuracy in identifying L. monocytogenes in chicken samples, significantly outperforming PCR in sensitivity.
