Article Synopsis
  • The paper discusses a new automatic method for planning the placement of maxillary anterior dental implants, aiming to achieve the correct three-dimensional (3D) positioning for better long-term stability.
  • It uses prosthetic guidance to establish candidate orientations by creating virtual slices of the maxilla and extracting key feature points, ultimately generating a set of possible implant poses.
  • The method was validated in 22 cases, showing quick planning times (under 9 seconds) and an ability to accurately determine optimal implant poses, indicating its potential for practical clinical use.

Objectives: Colitis is a global disease usually accompanied by intestinal epithelial damage and intestinal inflammation, and an increasing number of studies have found natural products to be highly effective in treating colitis. Anemoside B4 (AB4), an abundant saponin isolated from Pulsatilla chinensis (Bunge), which was found to have strong anti-inflammatory activity. However, the exact molecular mechanisms and direct targets of AB4 in the treatment of colitis remain to be discovered.

  • - Aggressive angiomyxoma (AAM) is a rare and locally aggressive tumor that often returns after surgery; the study explored a new chemical ablation method as a potential treatment option.
  • - The study involved two female patients between 2012 and 2016, where various amounts of anhydrous ethanol and glacial acetic acid were used for the ablation process, with details on complications recorded.
  • - While complete resection is the standard treatment for AAM, the study suggests that chemical ablation may serve as a promising adjunct therapy; however, further research is necessary to validate these results.

Purpose: The design of a maxillary anterior tooth crown is crucial to post-treatment aesthetic appearance. Currently, the design is performed manually or by semi-automatic methods, both of which are time-consuming. As such, automatic methods could improve efficiency, but existing automatic methods ignore the relationships among crowns and are primarily used for occlusal surface reconstruction.

Purpose: Dental implant surgery is an effective method for remediating the loss of teeth. Robot is expected to increase the accuracy of dental implant surgery. However, most of them are industrial serial robot, with low stiffness and non-unique inverse kinematic solution, which may reduce the success rate and safety of robotic surgery.

The expression level and clinical significance of integrin subunit beta 4 () in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) remain unclear. Expression of in HNSCC tissues was evaluated by calculating standard mean differences (SMDs) based on gene chips, RNA-seq, and immunohistochemistry data ( = 2330) from multiple sources. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to detect the ability of to distinguish HNSCC from non-HNSCC samples.

Objectives: To look at the possible effect of IGF2R rs9456497 on cardiovascular risks in a long-lived population.

Methods: IGF-2R rs9456497 was genotyped by iMLDR for 496 long-lived Zhuang Chinese (90-107 y/o) and their offspring (n = 723, 60-75 y/o) and healthy controls (n = 611, 60-75 y/o). Association analyses were then conducted among genotypes and cardiovascular risks.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the relationship between BDNF Val66Met gene variant and metabolic risk factors like BMI, blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose, and lipid levels among long-lived individuals in Guangxi, China.
  • 487 older individuals (aged 90+), their offspring (aged 60-77), and healthy controls (aged 60-75) were analyzed, finding no significant genetic distribution differences, but some correlations were noted in lipid levels and systolic blood pressure.
  • Findings suggest that the BDNF 66Met variant may negatively impact blood pressure and lipid profiles in this population, potentially contributing to overall poor metabolic health.

To see the possible relationship between COMT Val158Met polymorphism and blood pressure (BP) and serum lipid levels and its putative role in human longevity, we genotyped COMT Val158Met (rs4680) by PCR-RFLP for members from Bama long-lived families (BLF, n = 1538), Bama non-long-lived families (BNLF, n = 600), Pingguo (a county outside Bama region) long-lived families (PLF, n = 538) and Pingguo non-long-lived families (PNLF, n = 403) after anthropometric measures were collected and serum lipid levels were detected. The distribution of genotypes and alleles among four family groups was significantly different (all P < 0.01), with GA/AA genotype and minor allele A presenting more frequently in Bama population than Pingguo Population (P < 0.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic disabling autoimmune disease with characteristics of chronic, progressive inflammatory joint synovial damage, which mainly encroaches upon the synovium of the joint. The use of traditional medicine to treat RA slows the development of RA to a certain extent; however, it often has numerous side-effects. Therefore, the focus of RA research is the identification of a new, safe and effective medicine.

Based on the pathophysiology of the brain, advance in angiogenesis induced by stroke, and evidences of Chinese-medicine-mediated angiogenesis, the possibility to study the stroke-treating mechanism of Chinese medicine in angiogenesis was discussed. And regarding our previous work on angiogenesis modulated by qi-tonifying and stasis-eliminating therapy following intracerebral hemorrhage, we proposed some questions, which should be taken into account in the further work.

Objective: To investigate the effects of electro-acupuncture on intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH)-induced angiogenesis and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) expression in rats.

Methods: Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 4 groups of 24 rats each. ICH was induced in 3 groups by stereotactic injection of collagenase type VII into the right globus pallidus; of these, one group was not further treated, the second group underwent Zusanli (ST36)-acupuncture, and the third group underwent non-acupoint acupuncture.

Objective: To detect absorbed bioactive compounds of the water extract whose pharmacodynamic effect was craniocerebral protection for quality control assessment.

Methods: Anthraquinones in water extract of rhubarb (WER), in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and in ipsilateral cortex of TBI rats following oral WER were respectively explored by ultra performance liquid chromatography with photodiode array detector (UPLC-PDA) method developed in the present study. The effects of anthraquinones absorbed into injured cortex on superoxidase dismutase (SOD) activity in TBI rats were detected.

The neuromedin B receptor (Nmbr) is an important physiological regulator of spontaneous activities and stress responses through different cascades as well as its autocrine and paracrine effects. Previous studies have revealed that neuromedin B (Nmb) and its receptor signal via the Rela (also known as p65)/Il6 pathway in a mouse model of pregnancy. This study investigated the mechanism of Nmbr signaling via the Rela/p65-Il6 pathway and regulation of the concentration of intracellular free calcium ([Ca(2+)](i)) during the onset of labor in primary mouse myometrial cell cultures isolated from mice in term labor.

Although the neuromedin B receptor (NMBR), a bombesin receptor family member, has been implicated in thermoregulation and in stimulation of both urogenital and gastrointestinal smooth muscle contraction, its underlying role in labor onset and its associated molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood. We examined the relationship between temporal and spatial NMBR expression in the myometrium of pregnant mice and potential mechanistic pathways leading to labor onset. Resultant data indicate that NMBR expression peaked at term and before parturition.
