Docetaxel is an adjuvant chemotherapy drug widely used to treat multiple solid tumors; however, its toxicity and side effects limit its clinical efficacy. Herein, docetaxel-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (DSNs) were developed to reduce systemic toxicity of docetaxel while still keeping its anticancer activity. To evaluate its anticancer activity and toxicity, and to understand the molecular mechanisms of DSNs, different cellular, molecular, and whole genome transcription analysis approaches were utilized.

The model comprises 120 cases of NSCLC that were treated and followed up for 4 years. The patients were divided into the BM (n=50) and non-BM (other visceral metastasis and those without recurrence) (n=70) groups.

Methods: The preoperative imaging data were analyzed retrospectively for 78 patients with lumbar disc protrusion. The values of PI, PT, SS and LL were measured and compared between lumbar vertebrate stability and lumbar vertebrate instability groups.
The association between CD14 gene C-159T polymorphism and tuberculosis (TB) susceptibility remains inconclusive. To derive a more precise estimation of the correlation, we performed a meta-analysis summarize the possible at a systematic manner. PubMed, HighWire and ScienceDirect databases covering all papers (up to November 2012) were searched.

Hence the Au clusters significantly suppress the TrxR1 activity in the cytoplasm, and further induce the up-regulation of the activated PARP level which allows the tumor cell apoptosis to occur in a Au dose dependent manner.

In this study, we reported a new form of selenium, selenium nanoparticles (Nano Se) which have significant lower toxicity and acceptable bioavailability. We investigated Nano Se as chemotherapy preventive agent to protect against toxicities of anticancer drug irinotecan and synergistically enhance the anti-tumor treatment effect in vitro and in vivo.

The response and recovery times of an optimal nanosensor can reach ∼ 0.9 s and ∼ 1.

Our research aimed at exploring the cytotoxic interactions between gefitinib and docetaxel with different concentrations for non-small-cell lung cancer cell lines, and furthermore, the mechanisms underlying the cytotoxic synergism.
Methods: NCI-H1650 [epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation and KRAS wild-type], NCI-H292 (EGFR wild-type and KRAS wild-type) and A549 (EGFR wild-type and KRAS mutation) cell lines were treated with docetaxel and/or gefitinib.
Flower-like Bi2O2CO3 and g-C3N4-Bi2O2CO3 microspheres with a high adsorption ability were synthesized using a facile method, and their dye-induced photosensitized degradation activity under visible light irradiation was evaluated. The as-synthesized samples were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, FESEM, TEM (HRTEM), UV-vis DRS and nitrogen adsorption-desorption techniques. It was found that the activity of Bi2O2CO3 was significantly enhanced due to the generation of g-C3N4-Bi2O2CO3 heterostructures.

The aim of this study was to determine the degree of distortion on DWI using a state-of-the-art clinical protocol and to explore the main contributors to geometric distortion.
Materials And Methods: Forty consecutive patients underwent 3T MRI of the prostate with an endorectal coil filled with air (n = 20) or barium sulfate (n = 20).

Objective: To investigate and analyze the status of anxiety and depression among patients with four types of peripheral vertigo.
Method: The clinical data of patients with one of the four types of peripheral vertigo, namely benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), vestibular migraine (VM), Menière's disease (MD), and vestibular neuritis (VN), were collected. Thorough otological and neuro-otological examinations were performed on these patients, and their status of anxiety and depression were assessed using self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS).
Objective: To describe the preparation of nano emodin transfersome (NET) and investigate its effect on mRNA expression of adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL) and G0/G1 switch gene 2 (G0S2) in adipose tissue of diet-induced obese rats.
Methods: NET was prepared by film-ultrasonic dispersion method. The effects of emodin components at different ratios on encapsulation efficiency were investigated.
Photocatalytic H2 production over TiO2 has attracted tremendous attention and achieved great progress, but the active hydrogen species is still unknown. Employing a rutile TiO2(110) surface as a model catalyst we report here for the first time the direct observation of photocatalytic H2 production under ultrahigh vacuum conditions during UV-light irradiation at 115 K and the identification of negatively-charged hydride-type H-Ti species as the corresponding photoactive surface species by means of thermal desorption spectroscopy, photon-stimulated desorption spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and DFT calculations. The formation and stability of H-Ti species are closely related to available surplus electrons on the rutile TiO2(110) surface that can be created by the formation of surface BBO vacancies or by the formation of surface hydroxyls via the adsorption of atomic H or molecular H2 on O sites.

In a previous microarray experiment, we found that DLGAP5 is overexpressed in HCCs. However, whether the up-regulation of DLGAP5 contributes to hepatocarcinogenesis remains unclear.

Objective: Left-sided lower extremity deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is more common than right-sided DVT. This difference was found to be caused by the compression of the left iliac common vein (LCIV). To evaluate and compare LCIV compression in unilateral DVT patients and the normal population and investigate the association of LCIV compression with the risk of left-sided DVT.

Here, a novel Fe3O4@SiO2@TiO2-Ag nanocomposite has been synthesized and characterized by a series of techniques including SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS as well as magnetization measurement and subsequently tested for the photocatalytic activities. The well-designed nanocomposite exhibits significantly superior activity to that of the commercial Degussa P25 thanks to the suppression of electron-hole pairs from recombination by Ag nanoparticles, and can be easily recycled by applying an external magnetic field while maintaining the catalytic activity without significant decrease even after running 10 times.
