Diabetic kidney disease (DKD), a leading cause of end-stage renal disease (ESRD), poses a serious threat to global health. Aseptic inflammation and pyroptosis of podocytes are crucial factors contributing to the pathogenesis and progression of DKD. Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i), a novel class of antidiabetic agents widely used in clinical settings, may exert a protective effect on podocyte injury, although the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood.

Methods: C57Bl/6 mice received 4, 8, and 12 caerulein injections to induce escalating severity of AP models (CER-AP). Mice were sacrificed 1 h after the last injection of caerulein to assess severity of CER-AP through biochemical and histopathological analyses, and serum CypA levels were also measured.
Background: Resveratrol (RES), a common type of plant polyphenols, has demonstrated promising therapeutic efficacy and safety in animal models of pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. However, a comprehensive analysis of these data is currently unavailable. This study aimed to systematically review the preclinical evidence regarding RES's effects on animal models of pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer via meta-analyses and optimised machine learning techniques.

Methods: Fifteen unoperated patients suffering from old non-union femoral intertrochanteric fractures from Feburary 2013 to Feburary 2023 were treated with hip arthroplasty including 9 males and 6 females, aged 71 to 82 years old. Eleven cases detected deep venous thrombosis(DVT), 9 cases received lower vena cava filter implantation.

Cine MRI is a widely used technique to evaluate left ventricular function and motion, as it captures temporal information. However, due to the limited spatial resolution, cine MRI only provides a few sparse scans at regular positions and orientations, which poses challenges for reconstructing dense 3D cardiac structures, which is essential for better understanding the cardiac structure and motion in a dynamic 3D manner. In this study, we propose a novel learning-based 3D cardiac surface reconstruction method, Slice2Mesh, which directly predicts accurate and high-fidelity 3D meshes from sparse slices of cine MRI images under partial supervision of sparse contour points.

In this study, we designed and synthesized a series of novel pyrazole/thiazole derivatives containing cyano/thiocyanato groups and evaluated them for antifungal activity. Some of the designed compounds exhibited promising antifungal activities against tested fungi, among them, compounds and displayed excellent activity against with EC values of 1.

This study aimed to explore whether pentraxin 3 (PTX3) regulates AP pancreatic necrosis and reveals the underlying mechanism. By using AP time gradient transcriptomics, proteomics and liquid phase chip analysis, we found a close association between PTX3 and AP.

The exact neuroprotective components in the secretome remain challenging to discover. Here we developed a cell-to-cell interaction model to identify a retinal ganglion cell (RGC)-protective factor derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).

However, the MIP signal of low concentration molecules in biological systems is often hindered or masked by background absorption, largely contributed by water, resulting from the H-O-H scissors-bending band in the fingerprint window or the bend-libration combination band in the cell-silent window. To preserve all desired signals while suppressing the background, we report a single-shot time-resolved MIP measurement that allows differentiation between the background and analyte signal based on their distinct photothermal dynamics.

This study examined the long-term recovery of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) after a serious injury or illness and quantified the economic costs attributable to the quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) lost to serious injury or illness.
Methods: Data were sourced from the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) database.
Background: Whether circulating histones in gut lymph contribute to organ failure and impact of chaiqin chengqi decoction (CQCQD) on histones in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) remain elusive.
Purpose: To verify the role of histones in gut lymph of SAP and evaluate the effect of the CQCQD on them.
Methods: Sodium taurocholate was retrogradely infused into pancreatobiliary duct to induce SAP in rodents.
It is well known that multimorbidity negatively impacts health-related quality of life (HRQoL). However, how psychosocial factors moderate this relationship remains unclear. The present study investigated the moderating effects of personality traits on the relationship between multimorbidity and HRQoL.

Three types of medical gloves, composed of latex, nitrile, and polyvinyl chloride (PVC), were exposed to common chemical disinfectants to analyze the effects on the tensile properties. Ethanol-based hand rub(EBHR) and chlorine antiseptic were selected for testing.

Immune checkpoints, such as PD-1/PD-L1, play a pivotal role in modulating these responses to prevent excessive immune activation and associated inflammatory damage. This study aimed to investigate the underlying mechanisms of these processes in both murine and human AP.

Dysregulation of MCU is implicated in various diseases, such as neurodegenerative disorders, cardiac diseases, and cancer. Despite its importance, developing specific and clinically viable MCU inhibitors is challenging.

Recently, they have been found to colonize humans and cause infections. This study aimed to identify and characterize two Herbaspirillum huttiense strains (CLJ01 and CLJ02) isolated from the blood of a uremic patient, with a focus on evaluating their pathogenicity and antibiotic efficacy.

Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a potentially fatal acute digestive disease that is widespread globally. Although significant progress has been made in the previous decade, the study of mechanisms and therapeutic strategies is still far from being completed. Xanthine oxidase (XO) is an enzyme that catalyzes hypoxanthine and xanthine to produce urate and is accompanied by the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in purine catabolism.
