Managing open skin wounds remains a notable challenge in clinical practice, with wound dressings gradually becoming an essential strategy for such treatment. To effectively regulate the wound healing microenvironment, we developed an antibiotic-free nanocomposite hydrogel by combining guanosine-based supramolecular G-quadruplexes (G4), angiogenic deferoxamine (DFO), konjac glucomannan (KGM), and zinc ions through a one-pot mixing strategy. The borate esters in G4 endow the hydrogel with a strong radical-scavenging ability.

Supervised Deep-Learning (DL)-based reconstruction algorithms have shown state-of-the-art results for highly-undersampled dynamic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) reconstruction. However, the requirement of excessive high-quality ground-truth data hinders their applications due to the generalization problem. Recently, Implicit Neural Representation (INR) has emerged as a powerful DL-based tool for solving the inverse problem by characterizing the attributes of a signal as a continuous function of corresponding coordinates in an unsupervised manner.

Computers based on the Turing model execute artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms that are either programmed by humans or derived from machine learning. These AI algorithms cannot be modified during the operation process according to environmental changes, resulting in significantly poorer adaptability to new environments, longer learning latency, and higher power consumption compared to the human brain. In contrast, neurobiological circuits can function while simultaneously adapting to changing conditions.

Automatic mode-locking techniques, the integration of intelligent technologies with nonlinear optics offers the promise of on-demand intelligent control, potentially overcoming the inherent limitations of traditional ultrafast pulse generation that have predominantly suffered from the instability and suboptimality of open-loop manual tuning. The advancements in intelligent algorithm-driven automatic mode-locking techniques primarily are explored in this review, which also revisits the fundamental principles of nonlinear optical absorption, and examines the evolution and categorization of conventional mode-locking techniques. The convergence of ultrafast pulse nonlinear interactions with intelligent technologies has intricately expanded the scope of ultrafast photonics, unveiling considerable potential for innovation and catalyzing new waves of research breakthroughs in ultrafast photonics and nonlinear optics characters.

Thermoelectric materials can be designed to support optical resonances across multiple spectral ranges to enable ultra-wideband photodetection. For instance, antimony telluride (SbTe) chalcogenide exhibits interband plasmonic resonances in the visible range and Mie resonances in the mid-infrared (mid-IR) range, while simultaneously possessing large thermoelectric Seebeck coefficients of 178 µV K. However, chalcogenide metasurfaces for achieving miniaturized and wavelength-sensitive ultra-wideband detectors have not been explored so far, especially with a single material platform.

WWP1, a member of the C2-WW-HECT E3 ligase family, is an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase containing WW domains. This enzyme plays a critical role in regulating diverse cellular processes. Its expression is modulated by various factors and non-coding RNAs, resulting in ubiquitination that affects substrate protein degradation.

Pulmonary endothelial barrier dysfunction is a hallmark of sepsis-induced acute lung injury (ALI). Ophiopogonin D (OP-D), isolated from the roots of Ophiopogon japonicus, is involved in regulating inflammation, apoptosis and intestinal permeability. However, the role of OP-D in ALI has not been reported and the related mechanisms remain unclear.

Terahertz (THz) waves reside in the electromagnetic spectrum between the microwave and infrared bands. In recent decades, THz technology has demonstrated its potential for biomedical applications. With the highly unique characteristics of THz waves, such as the high sensitivity to water and optimal spatial resolution coupled with the characteristics of the human cornea, such as its high water content, THz technology has been explored as a potential modality to assess corneas and corneal diseases.

Previous studies have shown that FGF-21 can ameliorate hyperglycemia and improve the level of oxidative stress in vivo in diabetic mice. The hypoglycemic effect is safe and lasting, but it takes a longer time to exert its effect. Insulin treatment of canine diabetes takes effect quickly; however, its action time is short, and it is prone to cause hypoglycemia.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated anticancer modalities, which disturb the redox balance of cancer cells through multi-pathway simulations, hold great promise for effective cancer management. Among these, cooperative physical and biochemical activation strategies have attracted increasing attention because of their spatiotemporal controllability, low toxicity, and high therapeutic efficacy. Herein, we demonstrate a nanogel complex as a multilevel ROS-producing system by integrating chloroperoxidase (CPO) into gold nanorod (AuNR)-based nanogels (ANGs) for cascade-amplifying photothermal-enzymatic synergistic tumor therapy.

Nuclear receptor corepressor (NCoR1) interacts with various nuclear receptors and regulates the anabolism and catabolism of lipids. An imbalance in lipid/energy homeostasis is also an important factor in obesity and metabolic syndrome development. In this study, we found that the deletion of NCoR1 in intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) mainly activated the nuclear receptor PPAR and attenuated metabolic syndrome by stimulating thermogenesis.

Vesicles play critical roles in cellular materials storage and signal transportation, even in the formation of organelles and cells. Natural vesicles are composed of a lipid layer that forms a membrane for the enclosure of substances inside. Here we report a coacervate vesicle formed by the liquid-liquid phase separation of cholesterol-modified DNA and histones.

Accurately predicting intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) prognosis is a critical and indispensable step in the clinical management of patients post-ICH. Recently, integrating artificial intelligence, particularly deep learning, has significantly enhanced prediction accuracy and alleviated neurosurgeons from the burden of manual prognosis assessment. However, uni-modal methods have shown suboptimal performance due to the intricate pathophysiology of the ICH.

Background: Capillary electrophoresis (CE) is a highly versatile separation technique widely used in analytical chemistry. Traditionally, CE can be categorized as either aqueous or non-aqueous systems based on the buffer solvents employed. For decades, non-aqueous CE has been predominantly associated with the use of organic solvents, a perception deeply ingrained in the scientific community.

Penetrating orocutaneous or oropharyngeal fistulas (POFs), severe complications following unsuccessful oral or oropharyngeal reconstruction, remain complex clinical challenges due to lack of supportive tissue, contamination with saliva and chewed food, and dynamic oral environment. Here, we present a Janus hydrogel adhesive (JHA) with asymmetric functions on opposite sides fabricated via a facile surface enzyme-initiated polymerization (SEIP) approach, which self-entraps surface water and blood within an in-situ formed hydrogel layer (RL) to effectively bridge biological tissues with a supporting hydrogel (SL), achieving superior wet-adhesion and seamless wound plugging. The tough SL hydrogel interlocked with RL dissipates energy to withstand external mechanical stimuli from continuous oral motions like chewing and swallowing, thus reducing stress-induced damage.
