Microbial cell factories (MCFs) are typical and widely used platforms in biomanufacturing for designing and constructing synthesis pathways of target compounds in microorganisms. In MCFs, transporter engineering is especially significant for improving the biomanufacturing efficiency and capacity through enhancing substrate absorption, promoting intracellular mass transfer of intermediate metabolites, and improving transmembrane export of target products. This review discusses the current methods and strategies of mining and characterizing suitable transporters and presents the cases of transporter engineering in the production of various chemicals in MCFs.

Localized high-concentration electrolytes (LHCEs) have attracted interest in alkali metal batteries due to the advantages of forming stable solid-electrolyte interphases (SEIs) on anodes and good chemical/electrochemical stability. Herein, a new degradation mechanism is revealed for ether-based LHCEs that questions their compatibility with alkali metal anodes (Li, Na, and K). Specifically, the ether solvent reacts with alkali metals to generate solvated electrons (e ) that attack hydrofluoroether co-solvents to form a series of byproducts.

External stimuli-responsive phase transition of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) introduces intriguing functions for diverse applications under practical settings. Herein, we reported a phase transition from cubic Ce-UiO-66 to triclinic Ce-BDC-OH under light irradiation. Such a phase transition underwent a ligand-to-metal charge transfer process, which was unambiguously revealed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, electron paramagnetic resonance, etc.

Major histocompatibility complex, class II, DQ beta 1 antisense RNA 1 (HLA-DQB1-AS1) conferred the susceptibility to hepatocellular carcinoma. Sustaining cell growth and resisting apoptosis are two hallmarks of hepatocellular carcinoma. The present study explored the role of HLA-DQB1-AS1 in the proliferation and apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma cells and investigated its downstream pathway.

In this paper, we describe a simple and practical way to prepare hydrogel membranes in a conical channel (pipette tip). We used a pipette to create a gas pressure difference on both sides of the gel precursor, which drove the gel precursor to move in the pipette tip. During movement, the shape of the hydrogel precursor gradually becomes thinner as the radius of the tapered channel becomes larger.

Inspired by molecular self-assemblies in nature, this article reports a versatile strategy for confined encapsulation of single-atomic metal into high-quality rGO nanosheets by the microwave-assisted emulsion micelle method. Multilayer self-assembly of organometallics-surfactants micelles into the interlayer of nanosheets can not only promote microwave exfoliation and reduction of GO but also precisely control loading and distribution of single-metal atoms. With this synthetic strategy, the simultaneous trinity of exfoliation, reduction, and composition are achieved for 1 min.

In individuals with traumatic shoulder instability, there is a loss of proprioception. This paper reviews the academic literature on shoulder instability and functional impairment in recent years and combines it with clinical practice experience to summarize several techniques of proprioceptive regeneration following traumatic shoulder instability. Many issues were discovered, including a lack of literature on the role of sensory input, a lack of basic proprioceptive research, insufficient sample size in proprioceptive research, and a lack of systematic and standardized standards for the evaluation and training of proprioception in clinical practice, among others.

The phase behaviors of an ABA star polymer and nanoparticles confined in a sphere with soft inner surface, which is grafted with homopolymer brushes have been studied by the self-consistent field theory (SCFT). The morphologies of mixture in the center slice of sphere were focused. Two cases are considered: one is that the nanoparticles interact with the B blocks and the other is that the nanoparticles preferentially wet the B blocks.

is a notorious soilborne fungal pathogen that causes serious economic losses globally. The necrosis and ethylene-inducible peptide 1 (NEP1)-like proteins (NLPs) were previously shown to play an important role in pathogenicity in fungal and oomycete pathogens. Here, we generated necrosis and ethylene-inducible peptide 2 () deletion mutant through homologous recombination and found that NEP2 contributes to the virulence of without affecting the development of mycelia, the formation of appressoria, or the secretion of oxalic acid.

Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), especially aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, is a serious cerebrovascular disease with high mortality and morbidity. However, there is no effective treatment in clinics. In recent years, more and more studies have shown that early brain injury (EBI) may be an important reason for poor prognosis of SAH.

Gold (Au) nanoparticles supported on certain platforms display highly efficient activity on nitroaromatics reduction. In this study, steam-activated carbon black (SCB) was used as a platform to fabricate Au/SCB composites via a green and simple method for 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) reduction. The obtained Au/SCB composites exhibit efficient catalytic performance in reduction of 4-NP (rate constant k = 2.

Background: Precise incidence prediction of Hepatitis infectious disease is critical for early prevention and better government strategic planning. In this paper, we presented different prediction models using deep learning methods based on the monthly incidence of Hepatitis through a national public health surveillance system in China mainland.

Methods: We assessed and compared the performance of three deep learning methods, namely, Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) prediction model, Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) prediction model, and Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) prediction model.

Activating transcription factor 2 (ATF2) is a tumor driver gene implicated in several human malignancies. This study aimed to determine the roles of ATF2 and its related molecules in the tumorigenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). According to the Pan-cancer bioinformatics system, ATF2 is highly expressed in HCC.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to use machine learning methods to predict the severity of fundus tessellation (FT) from a large population sample of 3,468 individuals.
  • Five machine learning techniques were applied, with ordinal forest providing the best in-sample performance (81.28% precision), while ordinal logistic regression excelled in out-of-sample predictions (77.12% precision).
  • The effective threshold ranges identified can assist clinicians in screening fundus diseases and assessing FT severity.

Background: The treatment responses of immune checkpoint inhibitors in metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) vary, requiring reliable prognostic biomarkers. We assessed the prognostic ability of computed tomography (CT) texture analysis in patients with mRCC treated with programmed death receptor-1 (PD-1)/programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) inhibitors.

Materials And Methods: Sixty-eight patients with mRCC treated with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors between 2012 and 2019 were revaluated.

Transcriptome analysis is used to study gene expression in human tissues. It can promote the discovery of new therapeutic targets for related diseases by characterizing the endocrine function of pancreatic physiology and pathology, as well as the gene expression of pancreatic tumors. Compared to whole-tissue RNA sequencing, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) can detect transcriptional activity within a single cell.
