'Chachi' (CRC), recognized for its considerable edible and medicinal significance, is a valuable source of metabolites beneficial to human health. This research investigates the metabolic distinctions and antioxidant properties across four different parts of CRC, using multivariate statistical analysis to interpret metabolomic data and network pharmacology to identify potential antioxidant targets and relevant signaling pathways. The results indicate considerable metabolic differences in different parts of the sample, with 1622 metabolites showing differential expression, including 816 secondary metabolites, primarily consisting of terpenoids (31.

Mango anthracnose, mainly caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, is the major destructive postharvest disease of mango during storage and transport. Dimethyl trisulfide (DMTS), an organic volatile found in some microorganisms or plants, inhibited growth of C. gloeosporioides in vitro, but its effects on mango anthracnose and its molecular mechanisms of action have not been well characterized.

  • 'Chachiensis' is a citrus variety whose peel is used to extract flavonoids, and this study explored different materials for encapsulating these extracts to enhance their benefits.
  • The composite wall material made from pea protein and maltodextrin (PPMD) showed the highest encapsulation rate of 84.44%, and the resulting microcapsules exhibited good stability and antioxidant properties.
  • Additionally, the encapsulated flavonoids had improved release rates in digestion and better retention over time compared to non-encapsulated extracts, indicating strong potential for industrial applications.

  • Plum (Lindl.) is a nutrient-rich fruit cultivated globally but is facing severe anthracnose outbreaks in parts of China, leading to damaged leaves and premature fall.
  • In a study, anthracnose samples were collected from various regions in Guangxi and Sichuan Provinces, involving analysis of mycelia characteristics and genetic sequencing.
  • The findings identified 101 isolates belonging to eight different species of pathogens, with eight species confirmed to cause disease in plum seedlings, marking the first report of two specific species causing anthracnose in China.

With the advent of industrialization, there has been a substantial increase in the production and consumption of ultra-processed foods (UPFs). These processed foods often contain artificially synthesized additives, such as emulsifiers. Emulsifiers constitute approximately half of the total amount of food additives, with Tween 80 being a commonly used emulsifier in the food industry.

  • Some species of the fungus genus Colletotrichum are significant plant pathogens.
  • A new positive single-stranded RNA virus called Colletotrichum camelliae hypovirus 1 (CcHV1) has been identified in the Colletotrichum camelliae strain GXNN11-2.
  • The CcHV1 genome is 9907 nucleotides long and encodes a polyprotein with four important domains, showing similarity to another virus and suggesting its classification within the Betahypovirus genus of the Hypoviridae family.

Superconductors are of type I or II depending on whether they form an Abrikosov vortex lattice. Although bulk lead (Pb) is classified as a prototypical type-I superconductor, we show that its two-band superconductivity allows for single-flux-quantum and multiple-flux-quanta vortices in the intermediate state at millikelvin temperature. Using scanning tunneling microscopy, the winding number of individual vortices is determined from the real space wave function of its Caroli-de Gennes-Matricon bound states.

In nature, the hierarchical structure of biological tissues endows them with outstanding mechanics and elaborated functions. However, it remains a great challenge to construct biomimetic hydrogels with well-defined nanostructures and good mechanical properties. Herein, polymerization-induced self-assembly (PISA) is for the first time exploited as a general strategy for nanostructured hydrogels and organogels with tailored nanodomains and outstanding mechanical properties.
