Nutrition consistently affects microbe-host interactions in the gastrointestinal tract. This study aimed to unravel how undernutrition reshapes the microbial composition and the homeostasis of epithelium in the jejunum and ileum. Sixteen late-gestation Hu-sheep were randomly assigned to the control group ( = 8, 100% ad libitum feeding levels) or the undernutrition group ( = 8, which received 30% ad libitum feeding levels).

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided percutaneous septal precision chemical ablation in the treatment of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM).

Methods: From December 2020 to July 2024, 27 patients with HOCM without large target septal branches (diffuse multiple branches, all less than 1 mm in diameter) were enrolled and underwent ultrasound-guided percutaneous septal chemical ablation. Intraoperative left ventricular outflow tract gradient (LVOTG), postoperative cardiac troponin I (cTnI), complications, and changes in the 36-Item Short Form Survey (SF-36) score, New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional classification and echocardiography parameters in 1 year post-PTSMA were monitored and analyzed.

The development of different concept approaches and user-friendly carbonyl surrogates for aminocarbonylation is highly desirable. Herein, we report the photocatalytic aminocarbonylation of enaminones with easily available -aminobenzamides and CFBr through an oxygen migration-defluorination strategy. The reaction features switchable transformation for the construction of carbamoyl-substituted enaminones and enol products and allows the expedient synthesis of fully substituted maleimides under mild reaction conditions.

Background: Lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (LEDVT) is a serious and potentially fatal complication with a high incidence following liver transplantation, significantly affecting patient prognosis. This study aimed to investigate the characteristics and risk factors associated with LEDVT post-transplantation and to develop an effective clinical prediction model.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 298 liver transplant recipients at Hebei Medical University Third Hospital between January 2021 and April 2024.

Socioeconomic status (SES) is a time-varying multidimensional construct with ill-defined dimension-specific and age-specific effects on brain and behavior. We investigated these effects in 4,228 young adults. From 16 socioeconomic indicators, assessed for early (0-10 years) and late (>10 years) stages, we constructed family, provincial, family adverse and neighborhood adverse socioeconomic dimensions.

Rechargeable sodium-chlorine (Na-Cl) batteries show great promise in grid energy storage applications due to their high electrochemical performance. However, the use of highly corrosive thionyl chloride (SOCl)-based electrolytes has severely hindered their real-world applications. Here we show a non-corrosive ester (methyl dichloroacetate) as a promising alternative to SOCl, which can form a non-corrosive electrolyte with aluminum chloride and sodium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide for high-performance rechargeable Na-Cl batteries.

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a growing burden with varied clinical manifestations and responses to Subthalamic Nucleus Deep Brain Stimulation (STN-DBS). At present, there is no effective and simple machine learning model based on comprehensive clinical scales to predict the improvement in motor symptoms of PD treated with DBS. A total of 647 PD patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China were enrolled retrospectively.

As a consequence of marine eutrophication, there has been an exponential growth of Ulva prolifera, culminating in the yearly emergence of a massive green tide along the shores of Qingdao. This phenomenon exerts a detrimental impact on the marine ecosystem. As reported, the expression level of Alteromonas enzymes involved in U.

Leucine-rich alpha-2-glycoprotein 1 (LRG1), a secretory glycoprotein associated with angiogenesis, inflammation, fibrosis, and other pivotal pathophysiological processes, is significantly upregulated in corneal neovascularization (CNV), where it drives neovascularization via the TGF-β-Smad signaling pathway, making it a potential therapeutic target for CNV. This study employs proteolysis-targeting chimera (PROTAC) technology, utilizing our newly developed PROTAC agent, TAC-2, to selectively degrade LRG1 in a mouse model of alkali burn-induced CNV. The cellular study revealed that TAC-2 effectively degraded LRG1 in a time- and dose-dependent manner, with a half-maximal degradation concentration (DC50) of 13.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the detoxification effect of extracts from the petal of Crocus sativus L. (PCSE) on acetaminophen (APAP) induced liver injury in mice and its related mechanisms. LC-MS/MS analysis was used to identify the main components in PCSE, and an APAP-induced acute liver injury model in mice was constructed to evaluate the detoxification effect of PCSE.

Probes capable of simultaneously detecting and differentiating biothiols is crucial yet challenging in optical chemical sensing. In this study, we design a multimodal probe, CL-NBD, through integrating chemiluminescence (high sensitivity and signal-to-noise ratio), absorption (visual discrimination by the naked eye), and fluorescence to distinguish various biothiol species. CL-NBD exhibits distinct signal response modes for hydrogen sulfide (HS), cysteine/homocysteine (Cys/Hcy), and glutathione.

Poor sleep has been associated with diseases including cardiovascular, obesity and mental disorders. However, there is limited information on the correlation between sleep duration and quality with peptic ulcer disease (PUD). This study aimed to investigate the impact of sleep duration and quality on the incidence of PUD in a large Taiwanese population follow-up study.

Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) significantly impacts morbidity and mortality globally. While established risk factors like smoking and occupational exposures are well-documented, patients' beliefs-especially those from the miasma theory attributing disease to "bad air" in cultures like China-may also significantly influence health outcomes.

Methods: This case-control study was conducted at Hospital of Hebei University of Traditional Chinese, involving 500 individuals diagnosed with COPD and 500 matched control participants.

The post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 (PASC), also known as long COVID, remain a significant health issue that is incompletely understood. Predicting which acutely infected individuals will go on to develop long COVID is challenging due to the lack of established biomarkers, clear disease mechanisms, or well-defined sub-phenotypes. Machine learning (ML) models offer the potential to address this by leveraging clinical data to enhance diagnostic precision.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the value of the 8th American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) anatomic and prognostic stage groups for penile cancer patients and explore whether there is room for improvement.

Methods: The clinical and histopathologic data from 16 centers between January 2000 and December 2021 were assessed according to the 8th AJCC anatomic and prognostic stage groups. Kaplan-Meier plots were used to estimate the disease-specific survival (DSS) of the patients.

Kawasaki disease (KD) is a widely prevalent acute vasculitis in children that often leads to cardiovascular complications. Although mA modification plays a crucial role in various cardiovascular diseases, mA-related biomarkers for KD remain unknown. We utilized GEO datasets to perform WGCNA to identify mA-related differentially expressed genes in KD.

As a member of the class II cysteine-based protein tyrosine phosphatases, low molecular weight protein tyrosine phosphatase (LMWPTP) plays a pivotal role in animal physiology, particularly in signaling transduction, but its specific function in lipid metabolism remains poorly understood. Herein, the structure and metabolic functions of LMWPTP were investigated using the Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) as a convenient model.
