This study developed an intelligent method for identifying and quantifying water pollution sources in estuarine areas. It characterized the excitation-emission matrix (EEM) fluorescence spectra from seven end-members, including seawater, rainwater, and five pollution sources typical of these areas. A deep learning model was established to identify and quantify these pollution sources in mixed water bodies.

Tidal rivers are key biochemical reaction channels along the land-ocean aquatic continuum, receiving carbon from wastewater and agricultural drains, which can considerably affect CO emissions. We developed a two-dimensional hydrodynamic and ecological model coupled with an inorganic carbon module along the Tan River in southern China. The simulations of and observations regarding discharge, temperature, total organic carbon (TOC), total inorganic carbon (TIC), and other common water quality variables were generally in good agreement.

Complex anal fistula (CAF) is a challenging anorectal condition. Although numerous treatments for its management have been proposed, none is ideal. Herein, we investigated the clinical efficacy of video-assisted modified ligation of the intersphincteric fistula tract (LIFT) in comparison with the incision-thread-drawing procedure for Parks type II anal fistulas.

Microalgae play an important role in arsenic (As) biogeochemical cycles as they are capable of accumulating and metabolizing this metalloid efficiently. This study aimed to investigate the toxicity, accumulation and transformation of arsenate (As(v)) in Dunaliella salina, an exceptionally halotolerant microalga, under various phosphate (PO4(3-)) regimes. The results of the 72-h toxicity test showed that D.
