Objective: To investigate the prevalence and characteristics of vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) isolates in a Chinese tertiary hospital in Shenzhen.
Methods: A hospital-based retrospective epidemiological survey of Enterococcus was conducted over a 6.5-y period, from January 2018 to June 2024.

Aim: is ubiquitous in the environment and seldom causes infections in immunocompetent individuals. However, skin and soft tissue infections caused by have been reported in recent years. Additionally, the cutaneous infections or outbreaks post cosmetic surgery caused by have been increasing due to the popularity of plastic surgery.

Methods: The characteristics of MDROs isolated from 2016 to March 2023 were retrospectively analysed. The detection rate of these MDROs was compared prior to COVID-19 (Period 1, 2016-2019), during the COVID-19 pandemic with restrictions (Period 2, 2020-2022), and after the end of zero-policy (Period 3, Jan-March, 2023).
Background: The relationship between hyperlactatemia and prognosis after cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is controversial, and some studies ignore the presence of lactic acidosis in patients with severe hyperlactacemia. This study explored the association between lactic acidosis (LA) and the occurrence of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) after cardiopulmonary bypass.
Methods: This study was a analysis of patients who underwent cardiac surgery between February 2017 and August 2018 and participated in a prospective study at Taizhou Hospital.
Cardiac surgery is associated with a substantial risk of major adverse events. Although carbon dioxide (CO)-derived variables such as venous-to-arterial CO difference (ΔPCO), and PCO gap to arterial-venous O content difference ratio (ΔPCO/CO) have been successfully used to predict the prognosis of non-cardiac surgery, their prognostic value after cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) remains controversial. This hospital-based study explored the relationship between ΔPCO, ΔPCO/CO and organ dysfunction after CPB.

It is mainly characterized by the absence of sperm in semen repeatedly or the number of sperm is small and not fully developed. At present, its pathogenesis remains largely unknown.

From size frequency data on Luhuitou fringing reef, Hainan, South China Sea, a matrix population model of massive corals (Porites lutea) was developed and trajectories over 100 years under no disturbance and random disturbances were projected. The model reflects a largely open population of Porites lutea, with low local recruitment and preponderance of imported recruitment.
