Purpose: This study aimed to explore the effects of neural and muscular factors on lower limb explosive strength in male college sprinters, and build models based on those factors to identify the key neuromuscular factors that predict the rate of force development (RFD) and 30 m sprint time.

Method: 15 male college sprinters were recruited in this study, with 100 m personal best times under 10.93 s.

Background/objectives: This study aimed to assess the effect of aerobic exercise on capillary density and vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) phenotype in the visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue of high-fat-diet (HFD) mice in order to understand the mechanisms underlying improvements in insulin resistance (IR) and chronic inflammation in adipose tissue (AT).

Methods: Male C57BL/6J mice were divided into HFD and normal diet groups for 12 weeks and then further split into sedentary and aerobic exercise subgroups for an additional 8 weeks. Various parameters including body weight, fat weight, blood glucose, lipid profile, insulin levels, glucose tolerance, and inflammatory cytokines were evaluated.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the safety and efficacy of adjuvant hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) as a treatment for diabetes peripheral neuropathy (DPN), which currently lacks targeted therapies.
  • - A systematic review and meta-analysis of 14 randomized controlled trials with 1,323 patients shows that the HBOT group had a significantly higher treatment success rate and improved nerve conduction velocities compared to the standard therapy group.
  • - While there were six adverse events reported in the HBOT group, they were not significantly different from the standard therapy group, and some publication bias on certain outcomes was noted in the analysis.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated how well dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) detects bone marrow edema (BME) in patients with lower limb joint injuries.
  • A meta-analysis of 17 studies revealed DECT's pooled sensitivity and specificity at 82% and 95%, respectively, indicating it’s quite effective for this purpose.
  • The highest specificity was found in hip joint injuries, highlighting the need for further larger studies to confirm these results.

Background: During the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, there are numerous symptoms in the skeletal muscular system, such as decreased skeletal muscle mass, strength, and muscle function, which are the main manifestations of sarcopenia. To investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on sarcopenia from the perspectives of COVID-19 pandemic lockdown and COVID-19 infection, we conducted this study.

Methods: We searched for literature related to COVID-19 and sarcopenia published in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science.

Objective: To explore the molecular mechanism of chronic osteomyelitis and to clarify the role of MAPK signal pathway in the pathogenesis of chronic osteomyelitis, by collecting and analyzing the transcriptional information of bone tissue in patients with chronic osteomyelitis.

Methods: Four cases of traumatic osteomyelitis in limbs from June 2019 to June 2020 were selected, and the samples of necrotic osteonecrosis from chronic osteomyelitis (necrotic group), and normal bone tissue (control group) were collected. Transcriptome information was collected by Illumina Hiseq Xten high throughput sequencing platform, and the gene expression in bone tissue was calculated by FPKM.

To compare the clinical outcomes of linezolid and vancomycin regimens combined with one-stage surgery in treating traumatic osteomyelitis of the limbs caused by methicillin-resistant (MRSA) infection. A retrospective study was performed to analyze patients with traumatic osteomyelitis of the limbs attributable to MRSA infection. All of these patients received one-stage surgery to debride their wounds, with subsequent implantation of a vancomycin-loaded calcium sulfate artificial bone.

Background: Obesity is considered one of the biggest public health problems, especially in the background of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) lockdown. It is urgent to find interventions to control and improve it. We performed this systematic review and meta-analysis to summarize the effect of traditional Chinese exercise on obesity.

Obesity is commonly accompanied by chronic tissue inflammation and leads to insulin resistance. Aerobic exercise is an essential treatment for insulin resistance and has anti-inflammatory effects. However, the molecular mechanisms of exercise on obesity-associated inflammation and insulin resistance remain largely unknown.

Objective: To study the role of bacterial biofilm (BBF) in the formation of chronic osteomyelitis and its prevention and treatment.

Methods: In this paper, a large amount of relevant literature was searched for analysis and summary, and the key words "chronic osteomyelitis," "bacterial biofilm," "infection," and "debridement" were searched in databases, mainly CNKI, Wanfang, and Wipu. The search was conducted until December 2020.

This study examined the impact of work-family conflict on subway employees' safety performance during the initial wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. We proposed a chain mediation model in which job burnout and affective commitment play mediating roles in this process. Using questionnaire data from 632 Chinese subway employees during February 2020, structural equation modeling analyses were performed.

Although train-pedestrian collisions are the primary source of railway casualties, the characteristics of this phenomenon have not been fully investigated in China. This study examined such collisions in the Greater Sichuan-Chongqing area of China by conducting a thorough descriptive analysis of 2090 incident records from 2011 to 2020. The results showed that such collisions have declined gradually over the past decade, but the fatality rate remains high.

Osteomyelitis is an acute or chronic inflammatory bone disease with a high disability rate. As an anti-inflammatory factor, peroxisome proliferator activated receptor-γ (PPAR-γ) is not only implicated in a variety of inflammatory responses but also regulates osteoblast differentiation and bone mass. However, the role of PPAR-γ in osteomyelitis is not fully understood.

If chronic osteomyelitis is not treated promptly and thoroughly, the wound will not heal for a long time, and the affected limb will be dysfunctional or disabled. In severe cases, it may even require amputation. In this article, a total of 50 patients with chronic osteomyelitis who meet the inclusion criteria were selected from January 2019 to March 2020 and were divided into two groups based on patient compliance, namely, a treatment group and a control group.

Bone transportation technology (Ilizarov technique) effectively solves the clinical problem of chronic osteomyelitis with structural bone defect. The paper combined with own clinical experience and a large number of literatures, the results showed that this method had some complications related to severe bone healing, such as non union of the joint ends and poor mineralization of the extended gap. Maintenance of force line during operation, protection of osteotomy end tissues, appropriate transporting velocity and stress stimulation after operation, and application of "accordion technology" are the keys to reduce such complications.
