The vast potential of medical big data to enhance healthcare outcomes remains underutilized due to privacy concerns, which restrict cross-center data sharing and the construction of diverse, large-scale datasets. To address this challenge, we developed a deep generative model aimed at synthesizing medical data to overcome data sharing barriers, with a focus on breast ultrasound (US) image synthesis. Specifically, we introduce CoLDiT, a conditional latent diffusion model with a transformer backbone, to generate US images of breast lesions across various Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) categories.

To address the issues of high attenuation, weak reception signal, and channel blockage in the current electric field communication of underwater robots, research on autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) multi-node networking communication based on underwater electric field Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) channel was conducted. This article, first through simulation, finds that the Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol has a smaller routing packet delay time and higher reliability compared to the Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol on underwater electric field CSMA/CA channels. Then, a 2FSK underwater electric field communication system was established, and dynamic communication experiments were carried out between two AUV nodes.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to assess how effective, safe, and tolerable lacosamide therapy is for treating focal seizures in young children aged 1 month to 4 years.
  • - Results showed that about 58% of children saw a reduction in seizures after 3 months, with a higher success rate for those starting lacosamide compared to those who added it later. Additionally, over a year, there was a notable improvement in the children's development.
  • - The therapy had a retention rate of 72.7%, but some children experienced mild adverse effects such as vomiting and drowsiness, leading to a few withdrawals; overall, it was considered effective and safe for this age group.

Developing high-performance Pt-based catalysts with low Pt loading is crucial but challenging for CO oxidation at temperatures below 100 °C. Herein, we report a Pt-based catalyst with only a 0.15 wt% Pt loading, which consists of Pt-Ti intermetallic single-atom alloy (ISAA) and Pt nanoparticles (NP) co-supported on a defective TiO support, achieving a record high turnover frequency of 11.

Hydrophones play a crucial role in underwater target detection within sonar systems. However, existing hydrophones often encounter challenges such as low sensitivity and poor signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the detection of low-frequency acoustic signals. This work introduces a capacitive hydrophone (CH) designed for highly sensitive detection of low-frequency underwater sound signals.

Metal hexacyanoferrates (HCFs) are regarded as promising cathode materials for potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) on account of their low cost and high energy density. However, the difficult-to-remove [Fe(CN)] vacancies and crystal water lead to structural instability and capacity deterioration as well as the stereotype of poor thermostability of conventional HCFs. Herein, we report (100) face-oriented potassium magnesium hexacyanoferrate (KMgHCF) nanoplates with low [Fe(CN)] vacancies and high crystallinity, enabling thermostability up to 550 °C, high-temperature carbon coating and crystal water elimination.

Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) has emerged as a global threat due to its high mortality in clinical patients. However, the specific mechanisms underlying this increased mortality remain unclear. The objective of this study is to investigate how the development of a resistance phenotype contributes to the significantly higher mortality associated with this pathogen.

  • The study focused on developing multifunctional face masks using high-vacuum magnetron sputtering to create a 5 nm ultra-thin Ag-Cu film on non-woven fabric.
  • Results showed that these masks had impressive antibacterial rates of 99.996% and 99.978% against specific bacteria, and a 99.02% effectiveness against the H1N1 influenza virus.
  • Additionally, the masks changed color to indicate respiratory system diseases, and their low cost and scalability promise practical applications in health and safety.

Previous studies have shown that anticipation induces more emotions than retrospection, known as temporal emotion asymmetry. However, the majority of previous studies have been confined to Western contexts. Eastern populations tend to emphasize the past more than their Western counterparts and may exhibit distinct forms of temporal emotion asymmetry.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in the preoperative prediction of the histological grades and molecular subtypes of breast cancer.

Methods: A total of 183 patients with pathologically confirmed breast cancer were included. Contrast enhancement patterns and quantitative parameters were compared in different groups.

The escalating prevalence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria pose a significant public health threat. Understanding the genomic features and deciphering the antibiotic resistance profiles of these pathogens is crucial for development of effective surveillance and treatment strategies. In this study, we employed the R10.

Objective: The objective of this study was to integrate metabolomics and transcriptomics data to identify key diagnostic and prognostic markers for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Plasma samples were collected from 85 ESCC patients at different stages and 50 healthy volunteers for non-targeted metabolomic analysis.

Methods: Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) was employed for non-targeted metabolomic analysis.

Stable communication technologies in complex waters are a prerequisite for underwater operations. Underwater acoustic communication is susceptible to multipath interference, while underwater optical communication is susceptible to environmental impact. The underwater electric field communication established based on the weak electric fish perception mechanism is not susceptible to environmental interference, and the communication is stable.

High-capacity storage technologies are needed to meet our ever-growing data demands. However, data centres based on major storage technologies such as semiconductor flash devices and hard disk drives have high energy burdens, high operation costs and short lifespans. Optical data storage (ODS) presents a promising solution for cost-effective long-term archival data storage.

  • The Bacillus cereus group, a significant foodborne pathogen, poses risks to public health and causes economic losses in the food industry; this study analyzed its prevalence in various food products in China from 2020 to 2023.
  • A total of 890 B. cereus strains were isolated from 1181 food samples, with cereal flour and noodles showing the highest contamination rates and significant antibiotic resistance, particularly against penicillin and ampicillin.
  • Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) of 234 strains revealed 10 distinct species, high diversity in sausages, and the presence of 20 antibiotic resistance genes, with some strains also exhibiting virulence associated with foodborne illnesses.
