Expression profiles of NOD1 and NOD2 and pathological changes in gills during Flavobacterium columnare infection in yellow catfish, Tachysurus fulvidraco.

NOD-like receptors are significant contributors to the immune response of fish against different types of pathogen invasion. NOD1 and NOD2 genes of yellow catfish (Tachysurus fulvidraco) were identified and characterized in this study. Yellow catfish NOD1 and NOD2 have open reading frames (ORFs) of 2841 and 2949 bp, encoding 946 and 982 amino acids, respectively.

Flammulina velutipes protein-Flammulina velutipes soluble polysaccharide-tea polyphenols particles stabilized Pickering emulsions for the delivery of β-carotene.

The delivery vehicles based on protein-polysaccharide-polyphenol are promising methods to encapsulate bioactive components with the aim of improving their solubility and bioavailability. In this study, we used Flammulina velutipes protein (FVP) and Flammulina velutipes soluble polysaccharides (FVSP) as raw materials and prepared FVP-FVSP and FVP-FVSP-TP composite particles loaded with tea polyphenols (TP), the high internal phase Pickering emulsions stabilized by FVP-FVSP and FVP-FVSP-TP for the delivery of β-carotene (BC) were created. FVP-FVSP-TP has more promise as Pickering emulsion stabilizer than FVP-FVSP because of the smaller particle size, proper contact angle, and lower surface tension.

Characterization of free radical-mediated Pleurotus ostreatus polysaccharide-EGCG conjugates for chilled minced pork preservation.

To improve the functions of Pleurotus ostreatus polysaccharide (POP), POP-EGCG conjugates were prepared using free radical graft polymerization reactions and were characterized using UV-vis, FT-IR, SEM, XRD, DSC, TG, particle size and potential, three-phase contact angle, and rheological tests; The antioxidant and antibacterial ability in vitro were detected. Moreover, effects of POP-EGCG on the quality of refrigerated minced pork were investigated. The results showed the optimal preparation conditions of POP-EGCG were 1 % POP, 1.

Assessing health-related quality of life of Chinese population using CQ-11D.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of the Chinese population by using the Chinese medicine quality of life-11 dimensions (CQ-11D) questionnaire and to identify factors associated with HRQoL.

Methods: The data was derived from a survey conducted by the Institute of Pharmacoeconomics Evaluation at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine on the quality of life of the Chinese population. The sex and age of respondents were considered through quota sampling.
