Due to the lack of an in-depth evaluation of urothelial carcinoma (UC) HER2 expression in both primary and recurrent UC, we examined possible clinical and pathological variables associated with altered UC HER2 expression. The HER2 status and clinicopathological features of primary UCs and matched recurrences from 2015 to 2023 (n = 1352) were compared by evolution category (stable or altered). In 1352 UC patients, HER2 protein expression was linked with age, histological grade, and recurrence.

To uncover the clinical characteristics and investigate the underlying causes of psychiatric manifestations in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), including its subset, neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus (NPSLE). Through comprehensive database searches in PubMed, Embase, Medline, and Cochrane, from their inception to August 2023, the study focused on adult SLE and NPSLE cases. From the selected studies, data were synthesised via a random-effects meta-analysis, encompassing a total of 2,997 subjects across six studies.

The present study was designed to assess the impact of Alhagi honey small-molecule sugars (AHAS) on Hu lambs. Therefore, in this study, AHAS low-dose (AHAS-L, 200 mg/ kg per day), AHAS medium-dose (AHAS-M, 400 mg/kg per day), and AHAS high-dose (AHAS-H, 800 mg/kg per day) were administered to Hu lambs to investigate the regulatory effects of AHAS on growth performance, oxidation index, immune system enhancement, and intestinal microbiota. The results showed that lambs in the AHAS-H group exhibited significantly increased in average daily weight gain, and growth performance compared to those in the control group ( < 0.

Intense and persistent oxidative stress, excessive inflammation, and impaired angiogenesis severely hinder diabetic wound healing. Bioactive hydrogel dressings with immunoregulatory and proangiogenic properties have great promise in treating diabetic wounds. However, the therapeutic effects of dressings always depend on drugs with side effects, expensive cytokines, and cell therapies.

The healing of diabetic wounds is hindered by various factors, including bacterial infection, macrophage dysfunction, excess proinflammatory cytokines, high levels of reactive oxygen species, and sustained hypoxia. These factors collectively impede cellular behaviors and the healing process. Consequently, this review presents intelligent hydrogels equipped with multifunctional capacities, which enable them to dynamically respond to the microenvironment and accelerate wound healing in various ways, including stimuli -responsiveness, injectable self-healing, shape -memory, and conductive and real-time monitoring properties.

Background: Immunocheckpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have been widely used in the clinical treatment of lung cancer. Although clinical studies and trials have shown that patients can benefit significantly after PD-1/PD-L1 blocking therapy, less than 20% of patients can benefit from ICIs therapy due to tumor heterogeneity and the complexity of immune microenvironment. Several recent studies have explored the immunosuppression of PD-L1 expression and activity by post-translational regulation.

Background: Approximately 30% of patients with oestrogen receptor (ER)-positive breast cancer (BC) exhibit intrinsic or recurrent resistance to tamoxifen (TAM) adjuvant endocrine therapy. The androgen receptor (AR) is expressed in about 90% of ER-positive patients. Our previous studies found that BC patients with an AR:ER expression ratio ≥ 2.

Objective: The immunoscore, which is used to quantify immune infiltrates, has greater relative prognostic value than tumor, node, and metastasis (TNM) stage and might serve as a new system for classification of colorectal cancer. However, a comparable immunoscore for predicting lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) prognosis is currently lacking.

Methods: We analyzed the expression of 18 immune features by immunohistochemistry in 171 specimens.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates newly defined low-grade oncocytic renal tumors (LOT) characterized by a specific "CD117 negative/CK7 positive" immunoprofile, analyzing clinical and pathological features from 4456 renal tumors recorded between 2016 and 2019.
  • Eight patients with LOT were identified, with a mean age of 56.6 years and a 1:1 male-to-female ratio; these tumors typically present with distinct tan-brown solid surfaces and show specific microscopic growth patterns.
  • The follow-up of seven out of eight patients indicates a good prognosis, as they are alive without disease recurrence after an average of 21.6 months, highlighting the need for recognizing these tumors in clinical practice as they represent

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the role of Interferon-stimulated gene 15 (ISG15) and its relationship with Epithelial Splicing Regulatory Protein 1 (ESRP1) in inhibiting the progression of lung adenocarcinoma (ADC).
  • Research shows that higher ISG15 levels are linked to improved survival rates in patients and that ISG15 can inhibit epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in lung ADC.
  • The findings suggest a positive feedback loop between ISG15 and ESRP1, which could lead to new treatment strategies for lung ADC by targeting these molecules.

Hydrophobic coating is of great interest to enhance the corrosion resistance of magnesium alloy implants, which always suffer from rapid corrosion that leads to the failing application under physiological conditions. Plasma-polymerized fluorocarbon (C-F) coating has been widely studied as a substrate protection layer; however, the precise control of the deposition rate of C-F coating with fluorinated alkanes has been a challenge. In this study, a thin, uniform, pinhole-free, polymerlike, and hydrophobic C-F coating was successfully prepared using acetylene (CH) as a cross-linking agent, which endows the coating with tunable properties of deposition rate by incorporation of unsaturated bonds.

Functional microdomains consisting of multiple molecules have widespread applications. However, most of available methods reported so far have a common limitation for widespread practical use. Herein, we reported a facile method based on material-independent polydopamine surface chemistry to realize the area-selective immobilization of dual amine-/thiol-terminal bioactive molecules assisted by photolithography.
