Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent arrhythmia in clinical practice, and obesity serves as a significant risk factor for its development. The underlying mechanisms of obesity-related AF remain intricate and have yet to be fully elucidated. We have identified FPR2 as a potential hub gene involved in obesity-related AF through comprehensive analysis of four transcriptome datasets from AF patients and one transcriptome dataset from obese individuals, and its expression is up-regulated in both AF and obese individuals.

Background: Pulsed field ablation (PFA) has gained attention in cardiac electrophysiology, but data on its application to paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia are limited. This study aimed to assess the feasibility and safety of PFA and its combination with radiofrequency ablation for treating paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia.
Methods: A prospective, multicenter, single-arm study was conducted across 8 centers in China.

Electrocardiograph (ECG) is one of the most critical physiological signals used for arrhythmia diagnosis. In recent years, ECG arrhythmia classification devices consisting of multi-module sensors, clustering algorithms and neural networks play an important role in monitoring and diagnosing cardiovascular diseases. However, the commonly used ECG arrhythmia classification methods are still facing some problems such as the complex model structure and long running time.

However, its superiority over planned double stenting for unprotected left main distal bifurcation (UPLMB) lesions remains unclear. Previous studies have reported conflicting results.

Objectives: The present study aimed to understand the variation and disparity in awareness of AF in China.
Methods: The cross-sectional study used data from the 2020 nationwide epidemiology survey on AF among adults aged 18 years or older in mainland China to assess the prevalence of AF awareness.
Moderate exercise decreases the risk for atrial fibrillation (AF), an effect which is probably mediated via exercise-stimulated release of exerkines. β-Aminoisobutyric acid (BAIBA), a novel exerkine, has been reported to provide protective benefits against many cardiovascular diseases, yet its role in AF remains elusive. Herein, using a mouse model of obesity-related AF through high-fat diet (HFD) feeding, we found that 12-week drinking administration of BAIBA (170 mg/kg/day) decreased AF susceptibility in obese mice.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAtrial fibrillation (AF) is a cardiovascular epidemic that occurs primarily in the elderly with primary cardiovascular diseases, leading to severe consequences such as stroke and heart failure. The heart is an energy-consuming organ, which requires a high degree of metabolic flexibility to ensure a quick switch of metabolic substrates to meet its energy needs in response to physiological and pathological stimulation. Metabolism is closely related to the occurrence of AF, and AF patients manifest metabolic inflexibility, such as insulin resistance and the metabolic shift from aerobic metabolism to anaerobic glycolysis.

Nonetheless, the accurate diagnosis of this condition continues to pose a challenge when relying on conventional diagnostic techniques. Cell death is a key factor in the pathogenesis of AF.

Objective: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common tachyarrhythmia in urgent need of therapeutic optimization. Obesity engenders AF, and its pathogenesis is closely intertwined with insulin resistance (IR), but mechanism-based management is still underinvestigated. Intermittent fasting (IF) is a novel lifestyle intervention that mitigates IR, a potential AF driver, yet whether IF can prevent obesity-related AF remains elusive.

Herein, using a mouse model of obesity-induced atrial fibrillation (AF), we tentatively explored whether exogenous melatonin supplementation could increase AF susceptibility in the context of obesity. We observed that an 8-week drinking administration of melatonin (60 µg/ml in water) induced a greater susceptibility to AF in obese mice, although obesity-induced structural remodeling was alleviated.

Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is recognized as the first-line management for patients with heart failure (HF) and conduction disorders. As a conventional mode for delivering CRT, biventricular pacing (BVP) improves cardiac function and reduces HF hospitalizations and mortality, but there are still limitations given the high incidence of a lack of response rates. Alternative pacing methods are needed either for primary or rescue therapy.

Whereas most cases of AEF are treated by emergency surgical interventions, we report a case of paroxysmal AF with AEF after combined therapy of catheter ablation and percutaneous left atrial appendage closure (LAAC), which was treated successfuly without major surgery or esophageal stenting. He was presented 18 days after the procedure, suffering chest pain, fever, and a transient loss of consciousness.

Methods: Ninety-three patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with acute myocardial infarction who were hospitalized and treated in our hospital from January 2021 to June 2021 were recruited for prospective analysis and equally divided into group A (HbA1c < 6.5%), group B (6.
Atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common sustained arrhythmia, is closely intertwined with metabolic abnormalities. Recently, a metabolic paradox in AF pathogenesis has been suggested: under different forms of pathogenesis, the metabolic balance shifts either towards (e.g.

Methods: Study data were derived from a national sample from July 2020 to September 2021.
Objective: To conduct a comprehensive analysis of prospectively measuring the concentration of soluble suppression of tumorigenicity 2 (sST2) to predict left atrial (LA) low-voltage areas (LVAs) and atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence after radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFA).
Methods: This was a prospective cohort study. A total of 84 patients, including 54 paroxysmal AF cases and 30 persistent AF cases who underwent RFA, were recruited.
Family with sequence similarity 129, member B (FAM129B) has been identified as a novel cytoprotective protein that facilitates the survival of detrimentally stimulated cells. However, whether FAM129B is involved in regulating cardiomyocyte survival after myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury is unknown. The goal of this work was to evaluate the potential role of FAM129B in regulating hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R)-induced cardiomyocyte injury in vitro.
