Objectives: Lung cancer (LC) is the most frequently diagnosed cancer globally; however, the role of social risk factors in its development is not well understood. While previous studies have identified various lifestyle and genetic factors contributing to LC, the interplay between these elements and broader social determinants of health is still unclear. In this study, we aimed to construct a polysocial risk score (PsRS) that captures the multifaceted nature of social environment risk exposure and its relationship with incident LC, and to explore whether the effect of PsRS is influenced by lifestyle behaviours and heritable risk.

Increased Uptake of 68Ga-DOTA-IBA in Lymph Node Metastases of Prostate Cancer.

A 61-year-old man with prostate cancer underwent 68Ga-labeled DOTA-ibandronic acid (68Ga-DOTA-IBA) PET/CT scan. The examination showed no bone metastases. Incidentally, uptake of 68Ga-DOTA-IBA increased in the lymph node metastases of the left neck.

This study employed Mendelian randomization (MR) to analyze the association between 3 milk consumption phenotypes with different fat contents and gout.

The Safety and Immunogenicity of a 13-Valent Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Conjugate Vaccine (CRM197/TT) in Infants: A Double-Blind, Randomized, Phase III Trial.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of a 13-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine (CRM197/TT) (PCV13i) in infants.

Methods: A total of 1200 infants were randomly assigned to either the experimental PCV13i group or the control PCV13 group in a 1:1 ratio. Each group received a three-dose series of the vaccine at 2, 4, and 6 months of age, followed by a booster dose at 12-15 months.

Due to the multi-factor coupling effect, the rule of interlayer friction in low-dimensional homogeneous thin-wall shell structures is still unclear. Double walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) having a typical low-dimensional homogeneous thin-wall shell structure are selected for this study. The interlayer friction of numerous chiral DWCNTs is investigated using molecular dynamics simulations to systematically analyze and understand the coupling mechanisms of various factors in interlayer friction.

Purpose: Nobiletin (NOB), an extract derived from citrus fruit peels, is renowned for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. However, the specific impact of NOB on alcohol-related liver disease (ALD) and its regulatory pathways remains an underexplored area of study. This research aims not only to confirm the positive regulatory effects of NOB on ALD but also to explore its mechanism of action through the "gut-liver axis" theory.

16S rRNA gene sequencing for bacterial identification and infectious disease diagnosis.

16S rRNA gene sequence is the most common housekeeping genetic marker to study bacterial phylogeny and taxonomy. Therefore, 16S rRNA gene sequencing has the potential to identify novel bacteria and diagnose bacteria. This study compared 16S rRNA gene sequencing with conventional PCR for bacterial identification and disease diagnosis.

Thyroid antibodies in Hashimoto's thyroiditis patients are positively associated with inflammation and multiple symptoms.

Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) is an autoimmune disease, characterized by abnormal elevation in thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPO-Ab) and/or thyroglobulin antibody (TG-Ab). Patients have multiple symptoms despite adequate hormone substitution. In the present study, we aimed to quantify the relationship between thyroid antibodies and multiple symptoms, inflammation and health-related life quality.

It involves the regulation of a complex molecular regulatory network encompassing endogenous hormone synthesis, metabolism, and signal transduction processes, induced through exogenous plant growth regulators. Previous studies have focused primarily on traditional propagation methods for , but there is limited knowledge on SE and its hormonal regulatory mechanisms.

Electronic nose is a bionic technology that uses sensor arrays and pattern recognition algorithms to mimic the human olfactory system. This study developed a thermal desorption-photoionization ion mobility-electronic nose (TD-PIM-Nose) system, employing thermal desorption for direct sampling and humidity control, with a photoionization ion mobility tube as virtual sensor array for component separation and detection, and pattern recognition algorithms for signal processing to differentiate and identify samples. Furthermore, it was applied to assess four quality grades of Daqu samples ("Excellent+", "Excellent", "Grade I", and "Grade II") determined by the Check-All-That-Apply (CATA) method.

Background: Zinc finger MIZ-type containing 2 (ZMIZ2) can function as a coactivator and participate in the progression of certain malignant tumors; however, its expression and underlying molecular mechanism in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains unknown. In this study, we aim to analyze the expression of ZMIZ2 and its tumorigenic function in NSCLC, identifying its related factors.

Methods: ZMIZ2 expression in NSCLC tissue samples and cell lines was examined using immunohistochemistry and western blotting; its biological role was investigated using in vivo and in vitro assays.

Background: Narrative nursing is a novel approach according with humanistic care, which has been shown to be effective in improving health outcomes for both patients and nurses. Understanding the influence of climatic factors on vegetation dynamics and cumulative effects is critical for global sustainable development. However, the response of vegetation to climate and the underlying mechanisms in different climatic zones remains unclear. In this study, we analyzed the response of vegetation gross primary productivity (GPP) to climatic factors and the cumulative effects across various vegetation types and climatic zones, utilizing data on precipitation (P), temperature (T), and the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index (SPEI).

[Inflammatory factors and prostate cancer: Two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis].

Objective: To evaluate the potential causal relationship between inflammatory factors and PCa using the two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) method.

Methods: We selected summary statistics of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) (n = 14 824) on 91 inflammatory factors, with PCa as the outcome in the latest 9th edition of FinnGen database for MR analysis. We evaluated the causal relationship between inflammatory factors and PCa using the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) of such regression models as inverse variance weighting (IVW), MR-Egger regression, simple mode (SM), weighted mode (WM) and weighted median estimator (WME), with IVW as the main statistical method for this study.

[Methodological and reporting quality of randomized controlled trials on the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia with traditional Chinese medicine].

Objective: To systematically evaluate the methodological quality and reporting quality of randomized controlled trials (RCT) on the treatment of BPH with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), in order to provide some methodological reference for clinical practice and research.

Methods: We searched CNKI, VIP, Wanfang Data and PubMed for RCTs on the treatment of BPH with TCM published in China from January 2013 to November 2023. Two researchers screened the literature separately, and evaluated the methodological and reporting quality of the RCTs based on the Cochrane bias risk assessment tool and CONSORT TCM compound.

Association of healthy lifestyle factors and genetic liability with bipolar disorder: Findings from the UK Biobank.

Background: The interplay between genetic and lifestyle factors in the development of bipolar disorder (BD) remains unclear.

Methods: A cohort study was carried out on 365,517 participants from the UK Biobank. Lifestyle scores, based on smoking, physical activity, diet, alcohol consumption, sedentary behavior, sleep duration, and social contact, were grouped as favorable (scores 6-7), intermediate (scores 4-5), or unfavorable (scores 0-3).
