In this study, we prepared a chitosan piezoelectric gel (CSPG) as an organic polymer with excellent biocompatibility, stretchability, and piezoelectric properties as well as excellent antibacterial properties.

Lung type 2 immunity protects against pathogenic infection, but its dysregulation causes asthma. Although it has long been observed that symptoms of asthmatic patients often become exaggerated following food intake, the pathophysiological mechanism underlying this postprandial phenomenon is incompletely understood. Here, we report that lung type 2 immunity in mice is enhanced after feeding, which correlates with parasympathetic activation.

A novel kind of potent HIV-1 protease inhibitors, containing diverse hydroxyphenylacetic acids as the P2-ligands and 4-substituted phenyl sulfonamides as the P2' ligands, were designed, synthesized and evaluated in this work. Majority of the target compounds exhibited good to excellent activity against HIV-1 protease with IC values below 200 nM. In particular, compound 18d with a 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl) acetamide as the P2 ligand and a 4- methoxybenzene sulfonamide P2' ligand exhibited inhibitory activity IC value of 0.

Constructing synthetic microbial consortia is a challenging task but holds enormous potential for various applications. Our previous droplet-based microfluidic approach allowed for the isolation of bacteria that could utilize metabolites from an engineered bacterium BsS-RS06551 with anti-obesity potential, facilitating the construction of synthetic microbial consortia. Here, we identified a strain of JJ3 that interacted with BsS-RS06551, and in vitro coculture showed that BsS-RS06551 was likely to interact with JJ3 through five dipeptides.

A small-sized tube versus traditional closed thoracic drainage in uniportal thoracoscopic surgery.

Introduction: To assess the feasibility and safety of placing a small-sized tube as drainage in patients after uniportal thoracoscopic lung resection.

Patients And Methods: Patients who received uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (U-VATS) lung resection were identified in our database. Patients placed small-sized tube drainage were compared with those placed conventional chest tube in terms of characteristics, operation modality, post-operative pulmonary complications, post-operative pain, chest tube duration and post-operative hospital stay.

Delins, as known as complex indel, is a combined genomic structural variation formed by deleting and inserting DNA fragments at a common genomic location. Recent studies emphasized the importance of delins in cancer diagnosis and treatment. Although the long reads from PacBio CLR sequencing significantly facilitate delins calling, the existing approaches still encounter computational challenges from the high level of sequencing errors, and often introduce errors in genotyping and phasing delins.
