Objective: To explore the correlation between heart rate variability (HRV), peripheral cytokines, anxiety and pain scores in patients with breast cancer (BC).

Methods: We collected blood samples from 100 BC patients and measured the concentrations of Interleukin 6 (IL-6), Interleukin 4 (IL-4) and Interferon gamma (IFN-γ). We collected the patients' 5-minute dynamic electrocardiograms and evaluated their anxiety and pain levels through the Anxiety Self-Rating Scale and the Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ) Scale.

Objectives: There are currently various tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI)-based regimens available, and it can be challenging for clinicians to determine the most effective and safe option due to the lack of direct comparisons between these regimens. In this study, we conducted a network meta-analysis comparing the efficacy and safety of distinct regimens to determine the optimal regimen for patients with EGFR-mutated non-small cell lung cancer, thereby facilitating clinical decision-making.

Materials And Methods: The PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library databases and international conference databases were comprehensively searched from their inception to 02 April 2024 for collecting data regarding efficacy and safety from eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs).

Accumulation of free α-globin is a critical factor in the pathogenesis of β-thalassemia. Autophagy plays a crucial role in clearing toxic free α-globin, thereby reducing disease severity. However, the impact of natural mutations in autophagy-related genes (ATGs) on the phenotypic variability of β-thalassemia remains unclear.

Butanol, a highly toxic volatile organic compound, poses significant health risks. Consequently, the creation of efficient gas-sensitive materials for butanol detection holds substantial practical significance. This study employed a secondary hydrothermal technique to synthesize InO, BiVO, and their composite InO/BiVO.

Streamflow and flood forecasting remains one of the long-standing challenges in hydrology. Traditional physically based models are hampered by sparse parameters and complex calibration procedures particularly in ungauged catchments. We propose a novel hybrid deep learning model termed encoder-decoder double-layer long short-term memory (ED-DLSTM) to address streamflow forecasting at global scale for all (gauged and ungauged) catchments.

Esophageal variceal (EV) diameter is a critical, independent risk factor for hemorrhage, and plays a key role in guiding choices of endoscopic treatment techniques. We developed a novel tool, the virtual ruler (VR), which offers increased precision and expediency in EV diameter (EVD) measurements. This study investigates the clinical value of VR for assessing EVD during the endoscopic treatment of cirrhotic EVs.

To investigate the safety, efficacy and risk factors for complications of stenting with optional coiling versus coiling alone for acutely ruptured cerebral aneurysms (ARCAs) using different antiplatelet schemes, 2021 patients were prospectively enrolled into the stenting group (n = 967) and the coiling group (n = 1054). Four different antiplatelet regimens were used. The clinical and treatment data were analyzed and compared.

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, three different types of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines, namely BBIBP-CorV, WIBP-CorV and CoronaVac, were manufactured and used for vaccination in China. However, as far as we know, no comparison of their induced serum neutralization has been carried out so far, possibly due to the regional difference in vaccine distribution, the difficulty in undertaking a comprehensive evaluation, and the intention to avoid unnecessary bias in populations for a certain type of inactivated vaccine.

Methods: Since all three of these inactivated vaccines are no longer produced and used for vaccination, here, we retrospectively compared the serum neutralizing activities induced by these three different types of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines.

Background: Depression weakens antitumor immunity, yet the underlying mechanisms linking depression and tumor growth remain unclear. This study examines the influence of depression on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, immunological function, and effectiveness of immunotherapy in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients.

Methods: A mouse model of comorbid TNBC and depression was established via chronic restraint stress (CRS) and 4T1 tumor transplantation.

Disease vectors, such as arthropods, primarily rely on innate immunity to counteract pathogen invasions, typically through the recognition and binding of pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) by the host's pattern recognition receptors (PRRs). As a conserved immune effector gene family from insects to mammals, the complement system may play an essential role in combating pathogenic microorganisms. In arthropods, the complement proteins are often referred to as thioester-containing proteins (TEPs) because thioester motifs are one of the essential functional domains of the first proteins characterized within the C3 and AM family.

Clay-based 2D nanofluidics present a promising avenue for osmotic energy harvesting due to their low cost and straightforward large-scale preparation. However, a comprehensive understanding of ion transport mechanisms, and horizontal and vertical transmission, remains incomplete. By employing a multiscale approach in combination of first-principles calculations and molecular dynamics simulations, the issue of how transmission directions impact on the clay-based 2D nanofluidics on osmotic energy conversion is addressed.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers identified five distinct expression profiles among cancer cells and developed a classification system categorizing ONB into three types: neural, basal, and mesenchymal, which may influence treatment strategies.
  • * The study also highlighted interactions in the tumor microenvironment and noted a prevalence of immunosuppressive macrophages, suggesting that therapies targeting these immune cells could be beneficial for treating ONB.

Background: Endoscopy is important for the diagnosis and treatment of acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (AUGIB), especially acute variceal bleeding (AVB), in liver cirrhosis. However, the optimal timing of endoscopy remains controversial, primarily because the currently available evidence is of poor quality, and the definition of early endoscopy is also very heterogeneous among studies. Herein, a multicenter randomized controlled trial (RCT) is performed to explore the impact of the timing of endoscopy on the outcomes of cirrhotic patients with AVB.

Macrophage hyperactivation is a hallmark of inflammatory diseases, yet the role of alternative polyadenylation (APA) of mRNAs in regulating innate immunity remains unclear. In this study, we focused on 3'UTR-APA and demonstrated that Nudt21, a crucial RNA-binding component of the 3'UTR-APA machinery, is significantly upregulated in various inflammatory conditions. By utilizing myeloid-specific Nudt21-deficient mice, we revealed a protective effect of Nudt21 depletion against colitis and severe hyperinflammation, primarily through diminished production of proinflammatory cytokines.

Background: Axillary Osmidrosis is highly prevalent and occurr in adolescents, bilateral onset, its pathogenesis is related to abnormal secretion function of apocrine glands, with a significant genetic predisposition, the patient's bilateral armpit area can smell a spicy pungent odor, although it does not affect the health, but it is inconvenient to life, socialize. Patients are often accompanied by low self-esteem and urgently require treatment, and most of them have the requirement of minimally invasive treatment and minimal scarring.

Method: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy of minimally invasive treatment of axillary osmidrosis with refined negative pressure-assisted rubbing suction technique.
