Myeloid cell leukemia 1 (Mcl1), a critical protein that regulates apoptosis, has been considered as a promising target for antitumor drugs. The conventional pharmacophore screening approach has limitations in conformation sampling and data mining. Here, we offered an innovative solution to identify Mcl1 inhibitors with molecular dynamics-refined pharmacophore and machine learning methods.

The expression of phosphodiesterase 7A (PDE7A) and phosphodiesterase 8A (PDE8) genes is integral to human signaling pathways, and the inhibition of PDE7A has been associated with the onset of various diseases, including effects on the immune system and nervous system. The development of PDE7 selective inhibitors can promote research on immune and nervous system diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, chronic inflammation, and autoimmune responses. PDE8A is expressed alongside PDE8B, and its inhibitory mechanism is still unclear.

The main component of phosphogypsum (PG) is CaSO·2HO. PG contains a few impurities, heavy metals, and radioisotopes, which limit the use of PG and pose a danger to the environment. In this study, under the excitation of a sodium hydroxide solution, the rheological properties of a paste with granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) and PG treated with ultrasonic water washing were investigated.

Objective: To explore the effects and the possible mechanism of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BMMSC) transplantation on apoptosis in rats cerebral cortex after cardiac arrest/cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CA/CPR).

Methods: The BMMSC of 2 Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats aged 4-5weeks was extracted, and the 3rd passage was used in experimental study. Eighteen Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were divided into sham group, model group (CA/CPR group) and intervention group (BMMSC group) according to random number table method, with 6 rats in each group.

Background: Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are uncommon, with duodenal NENs (dNENs) being particularly rare in clinical practice. Congenital factor XIII deficiency (FXIIID) is also an extremely rare hematological disease in which poor wound healing may occur due to coagulopathy. The concurrent occurrence of these two rare diseases has not been reported before, which increases the difficulty of diagnosis and treatment.

The Jumonji domain-containing protein-3 (JMJD3) is a histone demethylase that regulates the trimethylation of histone H3 on lysine 27 (H3K27me3). H3K27me3 is an important epigenetic event associated with transcriptional silencing. JMJD3 has been studied extensively in immune diseases, cancer, and tumor development.

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is common and burdensome for patients and health care systems. Our study purpose was to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of DMOADs in adults with knee and hip osteoarthritis.

Methods: We searched Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Web of Knowledge without language, publication, or date restrictions from inception through November 2018 for randomized controlled trials assessing 12 classes of DMOADs with at least 12 months of follow-up.

The current nested case-control study was conducted to explore the prognostic value of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2A (p16), marker of proliferation Ki-67 (Ki-67) and immunohistochemical cocktail containing antibodies directed against topoisomerase IIα (TOP2A) and minichromosome maintenance 2 (MCM2) proteins (ProExC) immuno-qualitative features to predict low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) progression. A total of 92 LSIL patients were followed-up for 2 years, where those with high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) or persistent LSIL were designated as the case group and those who spontaneously regressed were designated as the control group. The infection status of human papillomavirus (HPV) was evaluated using flow-through hybridization and gene chip, whilst the expression of p16, Ki-67 and ProExC were tested in LSIL patient biopsies by immunohistochemistry.

Periprosthetic femoral fracture (PFF) is a complicated complication of both primary and revision hip arthroplasty with an increasing incidence. The present study aimed to summarize the clinical characteristics and identify the risk factors for PFF which would be potentially helpful in the prevention and treatment of PFF.We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 89 cases of PFF, and a case-control study was designed to identify the potential risk for intraoperative and postoperative PFF in both primary and revision hip arthroplasty.

Objective: To investigate and clarify the key surgical techniques and evaluate clinical effectiveness of modular cementless femoral stems(LINK MP modular stem) in complex revision hip arthroplasty.

Methods: From January 2002 to December 2013, 470 patients in Chinese PLA General Hospital received revision hip arthroplasties using MP stems. Among them, 246 patients were followed for an average of 5.

Bacterial cellulose (BC) has been proposed as a biomaterial applied in biomedical scope due to its good biocompatibility. Recent reports showed that human adipose-derived stem cells (HASCs) have become a new choice to be used as seeding cells in tissue engineering. The objective of this study is to explore the potential of using BC and HASCs as scaffold and seeding cells in bone tissue engineering.

Background: This is an update of a Cochrane review first published in 2002. Osteoarthritis is a disease that affects the synovial joints, causing degeneration and destruction of hyaline cartilage and subchondral bone. Electromagnetic field therapy is currently used by physiotherapists and may promote growth and repair of bone and cartilage.

Kisspeptin, a key factor in the neuroendocrinological regulation of animal reproduction, is a peptide product encoded by kiss genes, which act as the natural ligand of GPR54. Over the last decade, multiple functional molecular forms of kisspeptin have been found in vertebrate species. In fish, the major molecular structural form is kisspeptin-10.

Background: Distal humeral fractures in adults are relatively uncommon injuries that require surgical intervention in most cases. There is a lack of consensus regarding the best management of distal humeral fractures in adults, including the role of conservative treatment, appropriate surgical approach, fixation strategies, the role of total elbow arthroplasty and handling of nerves such as the ulnar nerve.

Objectives: To assess the effects (benefits and harms) of surgical interventions for distal humeral fractures in adults.

Metabolic osteoarthritis (OA) has now been characterized as a subtype of OA, and links have been discovered between this phenotype and metabolic syndrome (MetS)--both with individual MetS components and with MetS as a whole. Hypertension associates with OA through subchondral ischaemia, which can compromise nutrient exchange into articular cartilage and trigger bone remodelling. Ectopic lipid deposition in chondrocytes induced by dyslipidemia might initiate OA development, exacerbated by deregulated cellular lipid metabolism in joint tissues.

The validated 20β-HSD cDNA full-length sequence, 1141 bp in length, contained a 108 bp 5'-untranslated region (UTR), a 202 bp 3'-UTR with an AATAAAA frame, and an 831 bp open reading frame (ORF) which encoded a propeptide of 277 amino acid residues. The enzyme shows the highest structural homology with that of zebrafish, and rainbow trout.

Background: Tongxinluo capsules are a compound of Chinese traditional medicine which contain substances that are thought to have vasodilatory, antiplatelet, anticoagulant, thrombolytic and even lipid-lowering properties, and therefore may improve outcome after acute ischaemic stroke. To date the evidence of its effect has not been systematically reviewed, making it difficult to derive robust conclusions about its actual benefits, and indeed, possible harms.

Objectives: To assess the effectiveness and possible harms of tongxinluo capsule for acute cerebral infarction compared with control.

Estrogen plays an important role in male reproduction. Most of the actions are mediated by estrogen receptor (ER). To investigate the profile of estrogen affecting male fertility, we firstly cloned four ERs from the male Spinibarbus denticulatus, a local economically important cyprinid fish in China.
