Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a major feature of the final stage of nearly all cause types of diabetes mellitus (DM). To date, few safe and effective drugs are available to treat. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs), comprised of three members: PPAR-α, PPAR-δ and PPAR-γ, play a protective role in the DKD through glycemic control and lipid metabolism, whereas systemic activation of PPAR-γ causes serious side-effects in clinical trials.

Primary intrathoracic SS is extremely rare, with limited diagnosis and treatment experiences. The aim of our study was to retrospectively study the clinicopathological characteristics, treatment and prognosis of primary intrathoracic SS and the impact of multidisciplinary team (MDT) management in diagnosis and treatment on patient prognosis.

Thus, exploration of novel biomarkers to better clarify the characteristics of LUAD is urgent. Multi-omics information of LUAD patients were collected form TCGA.

Methods: The SCLC patients extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database between 2000 and 2014 were reviewed. Significant prognostic factors were identified and integrated to develop the nomogram using multivariable Cox regression.
Several lines of evidence have linked a dysregulated inflammatory setting to the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, which is a form of chronic vascular inflammation. Various inflammatory biomarkers have been associated with inflammation and are recognized as potential tools to monitor the progression of atherosclerosis. A well-studied inflammatory marker in the context of cardiovascular diseases is C-reactive protein (CRP) or, more accurately, highly sensitive-CRP (hs-CRP), which has been established as an inflammatory biomarker for atherosclerotic events.

Identification of biomarkers with prognostic value is of great significance for the diagnosis and treatment of LUAD. Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein C (HNRNPC) is an RNA-binding protein "reader" of N6-methyladenosine (mA) methylation, and is related to the progression of various cancers; however, its role in LUAD is unclear.

In addition, a clinical decision-making nomogram for predicting postpneumonectomy mortality remains lacking.
Methods: A total of 10,337 patients diagnosed with lung cancer who underwent pneumonectomy between 1998 and 2016 were retrieved from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) cancer registry.
Background: Pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma (PSC) is a rare lung cancer subtype. Studies concerning PSC are limited and controversial; therefore, we analyzed the treatment and outcomes of PSC utilizing a relatively large single-institution database.
Methods: From January 2003 to December 2018, 262 consecutive PSC patients treated at our institution were retrospectively reviewed.
Primary pulmonary inflammatory pseudotumor-like follicular dendritic cell sarcoma (IPT-like FDCS) is extremely rare. Here, we report a case of a 64-year-old female with primary pulmonary IPT-like FDCS. The patient was found to have a solid nodule in the right lower lobe (RLL) of the lung incidentally without any symptoms or signs of discomfort.

This mini-review highlights some recent progress in the engineering of single-atom catalysts (SACs) through metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and derivatives. The inherent molecular and chemical specificities within the MOFs and derivatives can offer stabilisation of the SACs with high atomic isolation and dispersion. As MOFs are often considered an infinite array of self-assembled molecular catalysts, specifically designed structures can provide further functionalities to suit the needs of different catalytic applications.

In recent years, advances in regenerative medicine have emerged as a promising treatment. Differentiation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) into cardiac cells and emerging technologies allowing arrangement of cells into complex 3D tissue-like structures open new frontiers for transplantation and engraftment of these tissue patches onto the damaged heart.

Combination therapies based on photodynamic therapy (PDT) have received much attention in various cancers due to their strong therapeutic effects. Here, we aimed to explore the safety and effectiveness of a new mitochondria-targeting photodynamic material, TPE-IQ-2O, in combination therapies (combined with surgery or immunotherapy). The safety and effectiveness of TPE-IQ-2O PDT were verified with cytotoxicity evaluation and a zebrafish xenograft model , respectively.

PW not only acts as a reducing agent and stabilizer for Ag NPs but also as a bridge to link Ag NPs and the SiO shell in the loading process. Its activity toward the photodegradation of methyl orange (MO) and photoreduction of CrO anions was evaluated.

Background: Uniportal thoracoscopic sleeve lobectomy is rarely reported owing to its high degree of difficulty. We conducted a comparative study on the safety and efficacy of uniportal versus multiportal thoracoscopic sleeve lobectomy for the treatment of centrally located lung cancer.
Methods: From January 2016 to December 2018, 30 thoracoscopic sleeve lobectomies (12 by the uniportal approach and 20 by the multiportal approach) for centrally located lung cancer at our institution were retrospectively analyzed.
Objective: To explore the prognostic significance of tumor deposits (TDs), isolated tumor foci lacking residual lymph nodes, in esophageal cancer (EC).
Methods: A retrospective review of patients with EC undergoing esophagectomy between 2005 and 2017 was conducted. The prognostic value of TD was evaluated using a Cox regression model.
Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-based tissue regeneration therapy has been extensively investigated for cardiac regeneration over the past two decades. Numerous animal and clinical investigations demonstrated the efficacy of various types of MSCs towards myocardial protection and restoration against anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity (AIC). It has been established that local or systemic administration of MSCs considerably improved the cardiac function, while ameliorating inflammatory responses and myocardial fibrosis.

Although recent genome-wide association studies have identified risk loci that strongly associates with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), how to pinpoint the causal genes remains a challenge. We aimed to pinpoint the potential causal genes and explore the possible susceptibility and mechanism. A convergent functional genomics (CFG) method was used to prioritize the candidate genes by combining lines of evidence, including Sherlock analysis, spatio-temporal expression patterns, expression analysis, protein-protein interactions, co-expression and association with brain structure.
