[Clinical characteristics and prognosis of acute erythroleukemia in children].

Objectives: To investigate the clinical characteristics and prognosis of acute erythroleukemia (AEL) in children.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data, treatment, and prognosis of 8 children with AEL treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2013 to December 2023.

Results: Among the 7 patients with complete bone marrow morphological analysis, 4 exhibited trilineage dysplasia, with a 100% incidence of erythroid dysplasia (7/7), a 71% incidence of myeloid dysplasia (5/7), and a 57% incidence of megakaryocytic dysplasia (4/7).

Nevertheless, the causal correlation between SP and serum metabolites, and the biological signaling pathways involved, is still not well understood. We performed a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to examine the causal relationships between 1091 levels and 309 ratios of metabolites with SP traits, alongside investigating the relevant biological signaling pathways.

Clinical Characteristics of Ear Chondroid Syringoma: A Report of 2 Cases and a Literature Review.

Chondroid syringoma, a mixed tumor of the skin, is an acquired hamartoma that differentiates into hair follicles, sebaceous glands, and apocrine sweat glands. Chondroid syringoma in the ear region is exceptionally rare. However, we present 2 cases of ear chondroid syringoma: 1 involving multiple lesions in the external auditory canal and the other including a single lesion behind the auricle.

Nomogram for predicting early cancer-related death due to recurrence after liver resection in hepatocellular carcinoma patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage B/C: a multicenter study.

Background: Early identification of the risk of early cancer-related death (within one year, ECRD) due to recurrence after liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage B/C is important for surgeons to make clinical decisions. Our study aimed to establish a nomogram to predict the ECRD due to recurrence for HCC patients with BCLC stage B/C.

Methods: A total of 672 HCC patients with BCLC stages B/C from four medical centers between January 2012 and December 2018 were included in our study.

Distinct response of nitrogen metabolism to exogenous cadmium (Cd) in river sediments with and without Cd contamination history.

The role of metal resistance on nitrogen metabolism function and community resilience against Cd is important for elucidating the evolutionary dynamics of key ecological functions in river ecosystems. In this study, the response of nitrogen transforming function to Cd exposure in river sediments from the Yangtze River Basin with varying levels of heavy metal contamination history (Cd-contaminated and Cd-free sediments) was compared to understand how Cd influenced nitrogen metabolism under varying metal resistance conditions. The results showed that chronic and persistent Cd pollution of sediments caused an elevation of transport efflux metal resistance genes (MRGs) and a reduction in the uptake MRGs, leading to a stronger tolerance to Cd for Cd-contaminated sediment than Cd-free ones.

Tenofovir vs. Entecavir on the prognosis of hepatitis B virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma patients after liver resection: the role of HBsAg levels.

Background: Our study aimed to explore whether hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) levels affected the role of nucleot(s)ide analog treatment (entecavir (ETV) and tenofovir (TDF)) in improving the prognosis of hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients after liver resection.

Methods: A total of 865 HBV-related HCC patients after hepatectomy treated with TDF or ETV were included in our study. Patients were divided into the high HBsAg cohort (n=681) and the low HBsAg cohort (n=184).
