Introduction: Janus kinase 3 (JAK3) is a well-established oncogene in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). The methylation status of oncogene promoters has emerged as biomarkers for cancer diagnosis and prognosis.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the biological and clinical significance of JAK3 promoter methylation in ccRCC.

Land use regression (LUR) models are widely applied to estimate intra-urban air pollution concentrations. National-scale LURs typically employ predictors from multiple curated geodatabases at neighborhood scales. In this study, we instead developed national NO models relying on innovative street-level predictors extracted from Google Street View [GSV] imagery.

This research aimed to investigate the compensation mechanism of iodine deficiency and excess in the mammary gland during lactation. Female rats were divided into the low iodine group (LI), the normal iodine group (NI), the 10-fold high iodine group (10HI) and the 50-fold high iodine group (50HI). We measured the iodine levels in the urine, blood, milk, and mammary gland.

In order to better adapt to the teaching development needs of visual communication design in the new media environment, a method of visual communication design training based on the ecological environment of the new media environment is proposed. This method constructs a web-based professional course network teaching platform by cultivating practical design talents under the new platform, new environment, and new technology, starting from the perspective of practical application, starting from the teaching process of visual communication design specialty, combined with the needs of social development for students' creative needs, so as to provide rich visual communication design cases, design practice, and exchange and discussion platform for professional teaching. The results show that the local display time of the system page is too long.

Chiral cyclic tetraphenylethylenes (TPEs) were synthesized by cyclization with chiral binaphthols. The helical conformation can be immobilized and multi-isomers can be separated resulting from (/)-isomerism and helical chirality of TPE. The chiral cyclic TPEs can emit deep blue circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) in both solution and film states.

Objective: The objective of this study is to explore healthcare resource accessibility in Harbin, a typical city in a cold region in China.

Background: Recently, investments in the construction of medical resources have been increasing annually in China, and consequently, the allocation of these resources has improved. Snow and ice on surfaces in China's cold regions have certain effects on the traffic capacity of urban roads, leading to a great difference in the accessibility of medical resources in winter and summer.

Steroid estrogens have been detected in oceans, rivers, lakes, groundwaters, soils, and even urban water supply systems, thereby inevitably imposing serious impacts on human health and ecological safety. Indeed, many estrogen-degrading bacterial strains and degradation pathways have been reported, with the 4,5-seco pathway being particularly important. However, few studies have evaluated the use of the 4,5-seco pathway by actinomycetes to degrade 17β-estradiol (E2).

In vivo application of intravascular photoacoustic (IVPA) imaging for coronary arteries is hampered by motion artifacts associated with the cardiac cycle. Gating is a common strategy to mitigate motion artifacts. However, a large amount of diagnostically valuable information might be lost due to one frame per cycle.

Flexible wearable sensors have attracted significant interests and created high technological impact on human health monitoring, environmental pollutant detection and bimolecular identification. For sensors, the choice of sensing materials is a crucial priority. As a rising star in the family of two-dimensional materials, MXenes has metal-like electrical properties, adjustable surface chemical property, hydrophilicity and excellent mechanical properties, making them attractive for building different high-performance sensors.

Copper-based electrodes can catalyze electroreduction of CO to two-carbon products. However, obtaining a specific product with high efficiency depends on the oxidation state of Cu for the Cu-based materials. In this study, Cu-based electrodes were prepared on fluorinated tin oxide (FTO) using the one-step electrodeposition method.

At the final stages of blood coagulation, fibrinogen is processed into insoluble fibrin by thrombin resulting in fibril-like structure formation. Via further cross-linking reactions between the fibrin gamma subunit by the catalytic action of blood transglutaminase (Factor XIII), this molecule gains further physical stability. Meanwhile, since fibrinogen is expressed in various cells and tissues, this molecule can exhibit other functions apart from its role in blood coagulation.

Background: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in the regulation of both the innate and adaptive immune response to Cryptosporidium parvum infection. We previously reported that C. parvum upregulated miR‑942‑5p expression in HCT‑8 cells via TLR2/TLR4‑NF‑κB signaling.

Anaplastic lymphoma kinase ( ALK ) rearrangement defines a unique nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) molecular subtype, of which the patients could potentially benefit from anti- ALK therapies. So far, the outcomes of the canonical echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like ( EML-ALK ) patients subjected to ALK inhibitors are well established. However, given the increasing complexity of ALK fusion partners, as detected by high-throughput sequencing, the responses of those with rare ALK fusion events remain to be explored.

Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome is an autosomal recessive disease characterized by albinism, visual impairment, and blood platelet dysfunction. One of the genes responsible for Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome, hps1, regulates organelle biogenesis and thus plays important roles in melanin production, blood clotting, and the other organelle-related functions in humans and mice. However, the function of hps1 in other species remains poorly understood.

Encapsulation of nano-semiconductor materials in three-dimensional (3D) adsorbents to build a typical semiconductor-adsorbent heterostructure is a forward-looking strategy for photo-assisted uranium extraction. Here, we develop 3D MXene-derived TiO(M)@reduced graphene oxide (RGO) aerogel for photo-assisted uranium extraction. Theoretical simulations demonstrate that oxygen vacancies on TiO(M) tailor the energy level structure and enhance the electron accumulation at gap states of TiO(M), thereby further realizing the spatial separation efficiency of electron-hole pairs by the Schottky junction.

The growing literature on organizational innovation has drawn attention from net effect and contingent effect of diversity-related factors in the context of top management teams (TMTs) to their complementarity and interaction in the form of configurations. In post-boundary-spanning technology mergers & acquisitions (M&A), the integration between multi-boundary knowledge and resources necessitates effective communication and cooperation within TMTs that display heterogeneous attributes. Therefore, this study integrates two popular theoretical perspectives from the diversity literature (social categorization perspectives and information/decision-making perspectives) in order to explore the configurational patterns of factors stimulating innovation in boundary-spanning technology M&A (BTM&A).

Microscopic imaging and imaging flow cytometry have wide potential in point-of-care assays; however, their narrow depth of focus necessitates precise mechanical or fluidic focus control of a sample in order to acquire high-quality images that can be used for downstream analysis, increasing the cost and complexity of the imaging system. This complexity represents a barrier to miniaturization and translation of point-of-care assays based on microscopic imaging or imaging flow cytometry. To address this challenge, we present a simple drop-in phase mask with a physics-informed, circularly symmetric asphere phase profile that extends the depth of focus by >5-fold while largely preserving the image quality compared to other depth extending methods.

Creatine kinase (CK) as a biomarker has long been expected to be replaced by other fluid biomarkers for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) because it is independent of disease severity. Growing evidence has demonstrated that muscle-specific microRNAs, known as myomiRs, can act as biomarkers for monitoring muscle pathology and disease severity of DMD patients. To gain insights into the relationship between serum myomiRs and clinical assessment, we measured serum levels of miR-1, miR-133a, miR-133b, miR-206, miR-208a, miR-208b, and miR-499 in 48 DMD patients by using real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction.
