Objectives: Intraoperative placement of neck drains in thyroidectomy patients remains a widespread practice, despite prevailing evidence discouraging this practice. This systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to update the currently available evidence base.
Methods: Two independent investigators performed a comprehensive literature search to identify randomized control trials that evaluated postoperative complications associated with neck drains.
Background: Current optical diagnostic techniques for malignancies are limited in their diagnostic accuracy and lack the ability to further characterise disease, leading to the rapidly increasing development of novel imaging methods within urology. The effects of position and exercise on pulse wave distribution across a healthy, compliant arterial tree are not fully understood. We studied the effects of exercise and position on the pattern of pulse arrival times (PATs) in healthy volunteers. Moreover, we compared the pulse arrival time ratios to the respective distance ratios between different locations.
