To investigate the effects of different drying methods on the flavor of scallops, headspace gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (HS-GC-IMS) combined with gas chromatography-olfactometry-quadrupole time-of-flight (GC-O-QTOF) was used to analyze the flavor of scallops processed by five drying methods. A total of 62 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were identified by GC-IMS. 27 characteristic aroma compounds were identified by GC-O-QTOF, and the highest content was trimethylamine.

The deformability and uptake capability of cells are critical indicators of their biomechanical properties and functional behaviors, particularly in tumor heterogeneity and cancer research. Here, we introduce a microfluidic flow cytometry platform integrated with a laterally adjustable squeezing structure for the characterization of bladder tumor cells (including 5637 and EJ cell lines) and uroepithelial cells (SV-HUC-1 cell line). The deformability of these cell types under varying channel width conditions was clearly assessed using this platform.

This study aimed to evaluate the impact of potassium alginate (PA), propylene glycol alginate (PGA), and calcium alginate (CA) on the gel properties of silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) surimi (control group) throughout gastrointestinal digestion. The findings revealed that the protein digestibility of the PA/PGA and CA groups was found to be lower compared to the control group. Among these groups, the CA group had the lowest digestibility rate at 82.

Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) bone cements have been widely used in orthopedics; thanks to their excellent mechanical properties, biocompatibility, and chemical stability. Barium sulfate and zirconia are usually added into PMMA bone cement to enhance the X-ray radiopacity, while the mechanical strength, radiopacity, and biocompatibility are not well improved. Purpose: One main advantage of proton therapy versus photon therapy is its precise radiation delivery to targets without exit dose, resulting in lower dose to surrounding healthy tissues. This is critical, given the proximity of head and neck tumors to normal structures.
