Conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) are materials of low density and high intrinsic porosity. This is due to the use of rigid building blocks consisting only of lightweight elements. These materials are usually stable up to temperatures of 400 °C and are chemically inert, since the networks are highly crosslinked via strong covalent bonds, making them ideal candidates for demanding applications in hostile environments.

From the analysis of Brillouin scattering spectra from fibers with different lengths measured by heterodyne detection, the maximum usable pulse width immune to laser frequency instability is obtained to be about 4 µs in a self-heterodyne detection Brillouin optical time domain reflectometer (BOTDR) system using a broad-band laser with low frequency stability. Applying the self-heterodyne detection of Rayleigh and Brillouin scattering in BOTDR system, we successfully demonstrate that the detrimental effect of laser frequency instability on Brillouin signals can be eliminated effectively.

Procedure: Forty children with HLH and 160 age- and gender-matched healthy controls from Xuzhou Children's Hospital were enrolled in the study. Serum IFN-γ and IL-10 levels were measured by enzyme linked-immunosorbent assay.
Objectives: The relationship between exercise capacity and right ventricular (RV) components function in repaired tetralogy of Fallot patients with severely dilated right ventricles is poorly understood. The aim of this study was to characterize the exercise capacity and its relationship to RV global and components function in repaired tetralogy of Fallot patients with RV end-diastolic volume index >150 ml/m 2 , a currently accepted threshold for pulmonary valve replacement.
Methods: The medical records and results of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and cardiopulmonary exercise testing of 25 consecutive eligible patients were reviewed.
The prognostic nutritional index (PNI) has been correlated with long-term outcomes in cancer patients. However, the relationship between PNI, the postoperative complications, and long-term outcomes in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) undergoing curative laparoscopic surgery has not been fully investigated. This retrospective study was conducted in the Beijing Hospital between January 2009 and January 2012.

This systematic review aimed to compare the prevalence of arrhythmias in patients who underwent ECC or ILT Fontan. Relevant studies comparing the incidence of arrhythmias and pacemaker implantation in ILT with ECC were identified through a literature search using MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the cochrane central register of controlled trials.

We hypothesize that vasopressor-induced pulmonary hypertension is caused by increased pulmonary blood volume and tested this hypothesis in dogs under general anesthesia. Background: HF involves costly hospitalizations with adverse impact on patient outcomes. The authors hypothesized that an algorithm combining a diverse set of implanted device-based sensors chosen to target HF pathophysiology could detect worsening HF.

B-cell translocation gene 3 (BTG3) plays an important role in the occurrence and development of numerous cancers. However, the role of BTG3 in EOC remains poorly understood.

Here we explored whether platelets can help attenuate lung injury in mice resulting from extracorporeal circulation (ECC)-induced systemic inflammatory responses. Mice were subjected to ECC for 30 min, then treated with phosphate-buffered saline, platelets, the GPIIb/IIIa inhibitor Tirofiban, or the combination of platelets and Tirofiban.

At the same time, the peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets of 20 children with complete remission from HLH were compared to those of 10 cases who succumbed to the disease. The proportion of CD3 and CD8 T cells were increased in children during the acute period.

However, the instrumental requirements and the conventional measurement conditions in an electrolyte cell have hampered its application in fast and on-site detection. To circumvent the inconveniences of E-SERS, we propose a self-energizing substrate that provides electrical potential by converting film deformation from a finger press into stored electrical energy.

In this work, we report the full ORR reaction mechanism for Pt(111) based on Quantum Mechanics (QM) based Reactive metadynamics (RμD) simulations including explicit water to obtain free energy reaction barriers at 298 K. The lowest energy pathway for 4 e water formation is: first, *OOH formation; second, *OOH reduction to HO and O*; third, O* hydrolysis using surface water to produce two *OH and finally *OH hydration to water.

This theoretical strength is considered as an upper bound on the attainable strength for a real crystal. In contradiction to this expectation, we use quantum mechanics (QM) simulations to show that for the boron carbide (BC) hard ceramic, this theoretical shear strength can be exceeded by 11% by imposing nanoscale twins.

The discovery of crystallographic planes in these boron carbide datasets substantiates that crystallinity is maintained to the point of field evaporation, and characterization of individual ionization events gives unexpected evidence of the destruction of individual icosahedra. Statistical analyses of the ions created during the field evaporation process have been used to deduce relative atomic bond strengths and show that the icosahedra in boron carbide are not as stable as anticipated.

Background: The loss of death-associated protein kinase (DAPK) gene expression through promoter methylation is involved in many tumors. However, the relationship between DAPK promoter methylation and clinicopathological features of gastric cancer (GC) remains to be done. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to assess the role of DAPK promoter methylation in GC.
