[Suture simulator - Cleft palate surgery].

Introduction: Cleft palate requires surgery in the first years of life, furthermore repairing anatomically the soft and hard palate is complex on a surgical level because of the fine tissues and the local intraoral configuration. It is valuable to train first on simulators before going to the operating room. However, there is no material dedicated to learning how to perform intraoral sutures in cleft palate surgery.

Patient-derived tumor xenograft strategies for informed management of patients with metastatic melanoma.

Metastatic melanoma has benefited from immunotherapy and targeted therapy advances. Faced with the inescapable onset of treatment resistance, the choice of a second-line treatment can be guided by a patient-derived tumor xenograft (PDTX). This new approach requires an excellent multidisciplinary collaboration where the surgeon has a key role to play.

[An atypical lacrymal cyst].

Introduction: Lacrimal cysts are rarely described and must be differentiated from diseases of the lacrimal gland. We present a rare case of lacrimal cyst developed from an accessory lacrimal gland.

Squamous cell carcinoma of the maxilla in a patient with basal cell nevus syndrome.

Basal cell nevus syndrome (BCNS) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder with complete penetrance and variable expressivity. This syndrome is characterized by developmental anomalies, such as odontogenic keratocysts of the jaws, multiple basal cell carcinomas, and skeletal abnormalities. Various neoplasms or hamartomas were observed in association with BCNS.

Orbital exenteration and periorbital skin cancers.

Purpose: Orbital exenteration is a disfiguring surgical procedure that requires thoughtful reconstruction.

Patients And Methods: We analyzed all cases of orbital exenteration done in our department since 1998.

Results: A total of 26 patients had undergone surgery during our study period, and 27 exenterations have been conducted since 1998.

Reducing the number of animals used for microsurgery training programs by using a task-trainer simulator.

To master the skills needed for microsurgery techniques, residents must enrol in a long and complex training program that includes manipulations on simulators, on ex vivo tissues and finally in vivo training. This final step consists of performing vascular anastomoses on murine models. We propose here a simulation program designed to decrease the number of rats used during the final in vivo training.

Patient-derived tumor xenograft model to guide the use of BRAF inhibitors in metastatic melanoma.

Recently, the BRAF V600 inhibitor, vemurafenib, has revolutionized the therapeutic management of metastatic melanoma. However, adverse effects and the onset of resistance are frequently observed, limiting the efficacy of this treatment. Patient-derived tumor xenografts (PDTX) engrafted in immunocompromised mice have been proposed as valuable preclinical models that can predict clinical response to treatments.

[Rhinophyma and skin carcinoma: a case report and literature review].

Rhinophyma, final stage of rosacea is considered as benign pathology. We present the case of a patient with basal cell carcinoma diagnosed on rhinophyma. The removal of all cutaneous nasal unit and its analysis has diagnosed the presence of three basal cell carcinomas and two in situ squamous cell carcinomas.

[Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans in children].

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is a malignant and locally invasive tumor. It generally affects young adults. However, in rare but not exceptional cases, children can suffer from this disease.
