Background: No therapeutics have yet been proven effective for the treatment of severe illness caused by SARS-CoV-2.

Methods: We conducted a randomized, controlled, open-label trial involving hospitalized adult patients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection, which causes the respiratory illness Covid-19, and an oxygen saturation (Sao) of 94% or less while they were breathing ambient air or a ratio of the partial pressure of oxygen (Pao) to the fraction of inspired oxygen (Fio) of less than 300 mm Hg. Patients were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive either lopinavir-ritonavir (400 mg and 100 mg, respectively) twice a day for 14 days, in addition to standard care, or standard care alone.

We present the first model independent search for three-jet hadronic resonances within multijet events in sqrt(s) = 1.96  TeV pp collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron using the CDF II detector. Pair production of supersymmetric gluinos and squarks with hadronic R-parity violating decays is employed as an example of a new physics benchmark for this signature.

Tobacco vein banding mosaic virus (TVBMV) is of increasing importance in tobacco production on the Chinese mainland. The 3'-terminal genomic sequences (1624 nucleotides) of 12 TVBMV isolates from China were determined and compared to the sequences of only four TVBMV isolates available in databanks. The results revealed that TVBMV consists of several phylogenetically distinguishable strains that show a degree of correlation with the geographical origin.

Ang II type 1 (AT1) receptors activate both conventional heterotrimeric G protein-dependent and unconventional G protein-independent mechanisms. We investigated how these different mechanisms activated by AT1 receptors affect growth and death of cardiac myocytes in vivo.
