Properties of gelatin-zein films prepared by blending method and layer-by-layer self-assembly method.

In this study, physicochemical and structural properties of gelatin-zein blending films and bilayer films prepared through blending and layer-by-layer self-assembly method under TGase crosslinking were systematically compared. The ratios of gelatin to zein examined were 2:1, 1:1, and 1:2. Results showed that the tensile strength of both blending films and bilayer films was the highest when the ratio of gelatin to zein was 2:1, which was 4.

The interaction of isoquinoline alkaloid crebanine with immunoglobulin G and cytotoxic effects toward MCF-7 breast cancer cell line.

In this study, the interaction of crebanine, an isoquinoline alkaloid, with immunoglobulin G (IgG) was evaluated. Subsequently, the anticancer effects of crebanine in MCF-7 breast cancer cells were assessed. The results demonstrate that static quenching plays a key role in the fluorescence quenching of the IgG by crebanine, and some embedded hydrophobic patches of the IgG are exposed upon interaction with crebanine, while the characteristic β-sheet conformation of the IgG was almost preserved.

Targeted isolation of diketopiperazines from a deep-sea derived fungus with anti-neuroinflammatory effects.

Prenylated indole diketopiperazines represent a diverse array of alkaloids with complex chemical scaffolds and with a wide range of biological activities. Aiming to discover bioactive metabolites with structural novelty, genomic annotation in association with the MS/MS-based molecular networking demonstrated a deep-sea derived fungus Aspergillus puulaauensis F77 containing a profile of diketopiperazines. Targeted separation of the cultured fungus led to the isolation of 19 undescribed austamide-type diketopiperazines namely versicoines A-S.

Hyperlipemia is a metabolic disease caused by the mobilization of fatty acids from adipose tissue, which often impacts pregnant and lactating jennies (female donkeys) during periods of negative energy balance. This study aimed to evaluate the levels of lipids, biochemical parameters, selected antioxidant elements and oxidative stress parameters in late pregnant jennies affected by hyperlipemia.
